Fix Set windowed mode
Navigate to <path-to-game>\system
Open XIII.ini with a text editor.
Change StartupFullscreen=True to StartupFullscreen=False
Save your changes.

heres the real solution geniuses
go into the thirteen configuration file in system and find the command line that says ReduceMouseLag=True and make it ReduceMouseLag=False
thats it
that is the same command that makes ut2004 crash under win 10
and as far as i could tell XIII runs on the ut2004 engine sooooo
other than that apply all the patches and run it
have fun
that command is under the [D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice] section in the config file
oh now u can run it in fullscreen now in window
not in window
i just noticed while running the game on windows 10 that without compatibility mode its pretty choppy
i right clicked the XIII exe and set compatibility mode to winxp service pack 2
runs like butter now
u can probably also mess with the config more and set tripple buffering to on and vsync to on as well to probably enhance smoothness even more but i havent tried that yet
if u feel like it give that a try as well

ok so one last post on this game
after i ran this with the reduce mouse lag of and win xp compatibility mode it ran fine the first time
after i ran it the second time the chpiness was back again
after some trial and error i finally found a way to keep it running smooth
same as before keep the reduce mouse lag of or false in the config but run the game exe in win 98/ME compatibility mode.
oddly enough the game keeps running smooth every time

So, i have done everything, anywhere, everything i could find on the web, but when i open the game the ubisoft logo appears and then it closes for no reason!!
does anyone know how to solve this?
