Did anyone get this working on Windows 8 x64?
Or Windows 7 x64?

I get the following error:

LockRect failed: 88760868
History: UD3DRenderDevice::ReadPixels <- UD3DRenderDevice::Present

I guess, it is an directx oder a graphics issue.
It was no Windows specific problem. Screen resolution was to low - my 460 / screen wasn't able to handle. Just edit some INI-Files!
Works perfectly for me, x64 Pro. ini files for widescreen and stuff were in virtualstore though.
Has anyone gotten this game to play on Windows 8 who had this error and solved it? I get this error and despite setting the FOV to 100 in the defuser.ini file and various resolutions in the xiii folder, I continually get this error. I have a 16:9 monitor and have tried 1920 x 1080 and 1600 x 1200 to name a few.
Can anyone help any further with this error?

I just bought the game from Amazon, thinking that it wouldn't be difficult to get this up and running on my Windows 8 machine.

It's installed and everything, but I'm getting the same error:
LockRect failed: 88760868

History: UD3DRenderDevice::ReadPixels <- UD3DRenderDevice::Present

I've modified the DefUser.ini and DefXIIIED.ini files but no luck. I've also installed the unofficial 1.4 patch

Any help would be great. I hope I haven't just spent money on a pc game I can't play.

DefUser.ini and DefXIIIEd.ini are the wrong files.

Update XIII.ini and Default.ini.
I wouldn't reccommend this game if you have a laptop with speedstepping/power saving cpu features as this makes the game's speed random and causes slowdowns, but if you have a desktop it's fine.

Hey Skatan666.607!

I might be 3 years late, but better late than never I guess..

I found a quick fix for this problem, if you still can't run it and want to play it:

Simply run the game in windowed mode. I got my ass handed to me to figure this shit out. I tried literally everything.

Got this tutorial from PCGAMINGWIKI:

Fix Set windowed mode
Navigate to <path-to-game>\system
Open XIII.ini with a text editor.
Change StartupFullscreen=True to StartupFullscreen=False
Save your changes.

The game runs in windowed mode though, that's the down side. But a workaround for now.
I'll keep you posted if I could get it to run in fullscreen without this problem.

Enjoy!

Thanks, mate. I'll give it a try as I am just installing in Windows 10 x64 ;)
Do you want to try, if the solution described there also applies for XIII?

Setting ReduceMouseLag=False should make it compatible with StartupFullscreen=True.

It worked for me!

Hey guys, thanks so much for adding this information in. Was pulling my hair out, updating everything, trying everything for about 5 hours, I am now in (BUZZ!) but not on fullscreen which is ok. I had the message LockRect failed: 88760868 every single time, was thinking of giving up. My solution was to go to your C drive, splinter cell and there you have the files. Some of them are configuration files these are the one's that fixed it for me. What you do on the configuration files is change them from StartupFullscreen-True to StartupFullscreen-False. Save these your changes elsewhere not on your C drive. Now delete all the files that has True in them and replace them with the one's that you saved and edited to StartupFullscreen-False. You edit these just by double clicking on the configuration files. Eventually after scouring the internet and a bit of trial and error this is what has fixed it for me. This is how you solve the LockRect failed: 88760868 problem by ensuring your configuration files are set to StartupFullscreen-False. Hope I could help.

Make sure you run the game as administrator too

Hey man, you've made my day !!! Thanks so much !!! :D
Hi, I'm on W10 and can't make my XIII run although I tried everything. I go to you to know if it's possible to have the .ini files from someone on W10 ( or w8 or 7 maybe) to make this game work on my computer.
