It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

hercufles: You never own games even if you download or buy it, the money you give is the right for using the software, games.
If you misuse software they may go to your house and take the software back. So even if the game is on a browser you dont have the right for using it.

Harzzach: You do know that streaming users are not violating any copyright laws at all? The violation is happening on the service providers part, here archive.org!

This ... thing ... about someone coming to my house and taking software back ... yes, i had a good laugh :)
Yeah they wouldnt do it tough would be a funny situation if they would
Technically you can legally play a demo version. This game was a shareware, wasn't it? So there might be a demo still somewhere with the 1st episode.
Just because something is shareware doesn't mean you can do whatever you want with it. There was a Java port of Doom that was packaged with the shareware game data which got C&Ded because it did not respect the terms of the license for redistributing shareware Doom...

Here it is.

Also, the first three episodes of Wolfenstein 3D can be played here:
http://3d.wolfenstein.com/

It really is no comparison to playing it in ECWolf, though, for which you need to buy the game to get the data files.

RetroCodger426: Didn't Bethesda officially release a free to play browser version? In that case, I can't understand how they can justify making money out of it again.
They did when TNO was close to release.
Not sure if they still do?

dBLOOD: If an old game is still sold and supported somewhere, it is not abandonware, and downloading such a game without legally owning a copy of it is in fact illegal.

Harzzach: You do not download a game from archive.org. The game stays on their server, you play it in a browser, through a browser, with their online version of DOSBox. This is not a download, where you have usable data on your hard drive after the download.
Yes, indeed, "play through your browser" games are *not to be confused* with the actual games & code themselves! Not the same thing at all--if you want to actually mod the game, add textures, experiment with the code/drivers, etc.--you want to buy the *game itself*--the "play though browser" stuff is strictly for n00bs/amateurs who wouldn't know the *real* game if it walked up and sat on them...;) Buy the game--just buy it--there's no earthly excuse not to...;)
