dBLOOD: If an old game is
still sold and supported somewhere, it is
not abandonware, and downloading such a game
without legally owning a copy of it is in fact
illegal.
Harzzach: You do not download a game from archive.org. The game stays on their server, you play it in a browser, through a browser, with their online version of DOSBox. This is not a download, where you have usable data on your hard drive after the download.
Yes, indeed, "play through your browser" games are *not to be confused* with the actual games & code themselves! Not the same thing at all--if you want to actually mod the game, add textures, experiment with the code/drivers, etc.--you want to buy the *game itself*--the "play though browser" stuff is strictly for n00bs/amateurs who wouldn't know the *real* game if it walked up and sat on them...;) Buy the game--just buy it--there's no earthly excuse not to...;)
