Editing that file doesn't work either... it just says "Video device does not support video resolution" and I'm only trying to make it do 1024x768. Aaargh!
I am all of a sudden having this resolution issue.

It works for days at a time, then randomly throws this error.
Usually, I just reinstall and it fixes whatever is the problem.
This time, that didn't do anything.

I tried your deletion idea too :/
