Does Wizardry 8 ONLY support 640x480 and 800x600? Because that's all I'm seeing under the settings menu. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
It does support higher resolutions. Not sure why the GOG version doesn't. However, you can manually edit the 3DVideo.CFG file.

Here is mine:
DirectX7
1440
900
32
Creative Labs EAX 2 (TM)
Are you using the 3DSetup.exe or some custom GOG exe?

Because my old disk install has 16-bit and 32-bit versions of every resolution my monitor can handle.

EDIT: I actually prefer 800x600, because I find the text becomes hard to read at higher resolutions.

It is 3DSetup.exe behaving that way. The disk version works fine. I would just manually edit 3DVideo.CFG and be done with it.
So, it's like this for everyone else too?
Editing that file doesn't work either... it just says "Video device does not support video resolution" and I'm only trying to make it do 1024x768. Aaargh!

PLease post your 3DVideo.CFG file. What are your specs? I can edit the file and is works just fine.

So check this out... I went into my Wizardry 8 folder and manually deleted all the nGlide/3Dfx stuff and now every resolution is available and works like a charm! I wonder why they're selling it like that... maybe it was an oversight?

Why did they even include nGlide, though, honestly? 8 works just fine on modern systems, even when installed to Program Files.

I dunno, they might've set it up that way for compatibility reasons. Do other resolutions work for you? I couldn't manually change it to anything other than 640x480 and 800x600 EVEN when I switched between nGlide, D3D, and OpenGL. But manually removing all the Glide/3Dfx shit made it work perfectly at any resolution.

I made a thread explaining it, if you're interested:

There's a .dll for widescreen support. It looks a bit odd, since some parts (e.g. the start menu) are kind of stretched, but personally I use it anyway. Not found on GOG afaik, but the link is external anyway. Credit goes to harakiri.
