Atlantico: Wasteland 2 is the game of the year for me. I bought it here on thursday, and have been playing it straight until now, barely getting sleep over the weekend.

So far there are only a few suggestions that I would have liked to see, one is a "start combat" button. This is such a useful strategic tool.

Another thing I'd like is to reorganize the party, whose portrait is first, etc. I basically made the party scout third and the scout always travels alone into new territory and it would be easier to select if the scout was the first portrait. Right now I have to start a new game to get a new party order.

Perks! I think the skills are great and that they could be further enhanced with perks. Traits even!

But really. I am just talking about things that would make the game better. That's a stupidly high praise.

This is an amazing amazing game, for the fans of Fallout 2 and New Vegas, this is even more amazing. They made the gameplay work, it looks and feels great.

Wasteland 2 gets 10/10 an A+ rating.

drealmer7: Just a few things that might make it easier for you. Try using keybindings instead of mouse-clickings for a lot of the actions. The function keys F1-F4 select your characters, space bar groups/solos the movement, X switches weapons, etc. (each action in the HUD has it's corresponding keystroke as part of its label to make it easy.)

To start combat you can simply click on the mob you want to attack and your party will attack it, before entering encounter mode. I usually get everyone into a relatively good starting position and then use whoever has a good shot (whether it is 1 or all 4 or 5 or 6 characters) to start combat. It's definitely taken me a handful of hours to get more comfortable with everything to make it function how I want it to function.

I actually do recommend starting over, depending how far you are into the game. I was wishing I had done something differently with my stats from the beginning after getting halfway through the Ag Center, forced myself to stay with it for a while until I was finally like "nah, it's okay to start over, you'll play through what you've played through relatively fast and you'll be happier for it." Guess what: I would have been KICKING MYSELF hard in the ass during my next playthrough had I not started over this time. I somehow missed Angela Deth at the beginning, probably because I was still getting used to the controls and camera movement (which after a little bit of a tussle with, I now LOVE how it works), not only did she have a bunch of enriching dialogue before she joined the group, but she JOINS the group and enriched the entire encounter at the radio tower to find Ace. Having her along there added so much richness to what was going on, I was taking it as a kind of weak early part of the game before she was with us, and it has largely changed how I felt about it.
I'm already in California, so starting over isn't very appealing.

But thanks for the advice, I do use some of those things already, though they don't solve the problems they do mitigate some of them.
Besides some minor bugs the only problem I have so far is enemies can rush to your face in one turn. it made positioning during battle nearly useless. What's the point of putting a sniper far behind cover if a knife junkie can run up to him in one turn? fast animals like dog and rabbit I can understand but people too?

also sometimes enemies with sniper rifle/assault rifles/heavy weapons want to get close to you too. They know their guns can't hit me when they are standing next to me right?
Is Wasteland 2 really hopeless? Did somebody really ask that?

This game has been out for exactly one week now and many people are just sticking their toes in the water, let alone finishing it, so how does someone expect a full review or know it's broke beyond repair?

OK,. got that out of the way. While a huge fan of Fallout 1 and 2, I was ecstatic to see Brian Fargo and other original Fallout devs, come together to make the game they and many of us wanted them to make, especially after Bethesda's bastardization of the series........so I plunked down my $50 when their kickstarter.......started, as I knew this was as close as anyone would ever get to the original wasteland and Fallout's.

I started a game and played for about 5 hours just to get the feeling of the gameplay and getting my settings where I wanted them, display, hud, etc. and then started a new game.
So far, really liking it. Is it Fallout, No and never said it would be, but it's the closest thing to a "REAL" crpg I 've seen in a long time and as such, I'm sure won't appeal to everyone.

Also, as a long time gamer, who realizes the graphics with a lot of bling, bling do not make a game, especially like this one, which is more about story and character development , than eye-candy.
Will there be bugs? Name one game without them. Do I believe Inxile will take care of the issues, yes as I can see that them and other Devs will start depending on Kickstater to make games they and the customers, want them to make, not the one the middle man at EA thinks will sell the best!

So anyways, back to the game and will give you a review when I've finished it but, so far, really having fun with it........isn't that what it's all about?

I think W2 is really hopeless for the OP. Judging by the high quality of his concern trolling I believe he would be an asset in the current US House of Representatives.

When I heard they were making W2, I wondered how they could make a Wasteland 2 and keep it from seeming like a Fallout 3. I am amazed at how well they did! This really is a continuation of Wasteland. So far, I love the game.

Rodor: Anyone who played it through or close to it, could you answer, please?
Basing on rather chaotic reviews here and there I tend to think that patches and DLCs won't mend that what can't be mended. Just like many fresh sequels, looking at AoW3, Might and Magic, and Heroes, and so on.
Are the kings of games of the 90's still invincible and inimitable?
I've finished the game now (and did not play it in beta or early access or anything like that) and can truly say I am glad I paid a fair bit more than I usually pay for a game to kickstart it and that I really enjoyed the game.

It has some bugs (I am sure they will get ironed out in patches) in the later part of the game to be sure, but I did get to the end and had a great time doing so.

Now, that being said you have to want to play the kind of game it is, which is a squad-based RPG/tactical combat game. There is a lot of really good story, many different ways to solve quests and/or make progress to the end of the game and the combat can be challenging (or easy depending on your difficulty setting) but is entertaining.

As released I'd say 8/10. After patches and all the bugs get fully ironed out of the second half of the game I think it will be closer to 9/10. As always, your mileage may vary.
