They are being saved, the first solution, which is changing the config.cfg vm_discipline to vdiscipline_last kept changing back and then I set it to read only to keep it from changing, and it still didn't work. idk what galaxy is tho, i edited it using notepad++

Galaxy is GOG's shitty Steam-like client. Guess you are not using it though.
