I had 2 save files under load game last night and it was the first time I played the game. I quit the game last night and this morning I wanted to play the game but the save files were missing! I think I'll just delete the game... I really really hate to play it from the very beginning to I left the game! I just want to learn why do you think that happened?
This question / problem has been solved by Namurimage
What system are you using ?

If it's Vista or Win 7, did you ticked the 'Run as Admin' on the shortcut after you made those saves ?

I use window 7 and I solved the problem by running it as admin...And I want to tell that it works great on netbook!
Ah, that's great then ;)
Does it only lose the saves as normal, cause i have that problem too. Im gonna just hope that it doesnt do that on run as administrator.
but now im running it as adm my save files are gone

That's probably because during the time you were not running the game as Admin your saves were being redirected to the Virtual Store folder. You can just copy them from the Virtual Store follder to the game folder to have them back.

Ah, i can help you with that. The saves should be in

C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\GOG.com\VTMR.

If you can't find the AppData folder it's because it's hidden by default. In that case go to folder options and tick the checkbox for "show hidden files, folders and drives"

No problem ;)
Hi, I'm having a problem that's similar, but not quite the same. My game won't save at all-- it says it saved, but when I go into load game, it's not there, no autosaves, either. I checked the appdata folder, and the only game in the GoG folder is Beneath a Steel Sky.
If you are on Win7 / Vista and you are running the game as Admin the saves should be in a subfolder in the game dir. The Virtual Store folder only comes into play if you are not running the game as Admin (also on Vista/Win7).

Anyway, if the game is not making autosaves at all look into this post here.
Hm... well, that would be the problem, then-- no SaveGames folder, it simply wasn't in the game dir, at all. I uninstalled and reinstalled it using 'run as administrator' (tho I'm not sure why that was necessary, this IS the administrator account), and now it's working. Thanks!
OK, nevermind that. It worked, but only the first time I ran it after re-installing it. Now we're back to not saving-- the saves I made when I first ran it are still there, but no new ones are being created. Any ideas?
