(Some of) you are using low to very low range cards here... Not my wish to offend but trying to play nice with that setup is no very realistic IMHO.

I find the game very well optimized (better than I expected actually). I play at 1080p ULTRA preset except foliage at HIGH, and the game runs very smooth and plays really nice with 40+ FPS average.

My PC: Intel Sandy Bridge 3570K, 8GB RAM, AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB RAM, 250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD. AMD beta drivers v15.4

GTX660 is the minimum required GPU.

So what did you expect ?

omg... thats pretty smooth...

shishimaru1000: Anyone noticed actual performance improvement with newer drivers? I still have to try them because they don't work on my system. Anyway, I strongly doubt they improve performances.
avatar
wallwork: i cant see any difference between new driver and old one...
Hm hm, I tried on another computer. Definitely no difference at all.

Geeebus people! The Devs gave you the minimum requirements for the game to run. MINIMUM does not mean HIGH/ULTRA in 1080p in 60 FPS. What is more, no, it should absolutely not be higher than 30ish with the bare minimum GPU required to play.
I run The Witcher 3 on my father's desktop pc with:

Nvidia GeForce GTX 660
Intel i5-3470 @3.2 GHz
16 GB RAM

on medium settings with a 1920x1080 resolution and it's very, very smooth... the problems come with the high settings, but medium is fine to me :P

Are you sure you don't have any processes in the background? How much memory does your pc use while doing nothing (just staring at the wallpaper)? Because that can kill your games as well.

I've done some more tweaking of settings get 40-60 FPS now on mostly high setting with my GTX 580 ;) while it's not 60 FPS flat it's bloody smooth even when the frame rate drops.

Tell me again why i need a 9xx card to play this?

mmarci: Yes, that is pretty much the bare minimum it runs on. Have you tried decreasing the resolution?
avatar
wallwork: yea... 30-40 fps on super low resolation..
this game is realy need optimize...
i just waste my money cuz with this settings ( super low ) no body likes 2 play this game...
this is first game i have only 30 fps on super low...
The devs don't need to optimize anything. They did for TW2 but this is their final Witcher game. You just need to upgrade your system man. My 550ti ran Mass Effect 3 maxed out with an Athlon x2 CPU a few years ago because ME is corporate and blew compared to ME1. ME3 was "optimized." Please don't tell me you would rather this be The Witcher 3 in Mass Effect 3 format. This is CDPR and they make outstanding games, this one will wear the crown for awhile. It should have gone without saying it wont be easy to run on high/ultra 1080p with 55+ FPS. I upgraded last month from a 660ti to an EVGA 970 FTW Edition just to ensure I could play The Witcher 3 without any hiccups. Now I'm set for a few years after I get a new CPU this summer. Maybe even set for three or four years. Saved for a few months and is now totally worth it.

You can get a 660ti (the minimum suggested for this game) refurbed for under $200. Or a 770 (recommended minimum) for under $300. Or do what I did for under $400.

My rig is FX-6200, 10GB DDR3, EVGA 970 FTW, and all air cooled. This still won't let me max everything at 1080p I don't think. But I run with environment stuff down, like grass, water, and foliage on Medium. NVIDIA hair effects is on with all other post processing and HBAO+. Everything else in Graphics is Ultra. I get over 60 FPS unless lots of shit is happening, then it dips to 50+. Cutscenes seems to be locked to the console's 30 FPS... Fucking consoles. That is what "optimizing" gets us who go above and beyond to enjoy our favorite games in fantastic fashion.

Just invest in an upgrade and you'll be glad you did! Wait for sales and you can come out way ahead.
I've just played the witcher 3 with fraps running in the background and, with the default medium settings (so with no tweakings), I get 35 fps (sometimes it drops to 27, but rarely, and other times it goes up to 40) which is more than good to me.

EDIT: I've optimized the game's graphics via the NVIDIA control panel right now (low settings suggested... sigh...) and I get an average of 45 fps with points up to 50... still good looking (awesome job, CDProjekt RED ;) ), but on medium is better :P

If you have an Nvidia card use Gefore Experience to get the Witcher 3 profile and use that for optimal performance.
