Just checked, there's a torrent of TW2 on The Pirate bay, but it hasn't been cracked yet.
Leave them be, I'd say. Those who like the game and can afford it may end up buying it. Those who can't wouldn't anyway. Those who don't like will delete it and move over.

And those who like it and don't buy it will burn in hell! (or have a cancer in their colon!)

This guy is a genius. He basically says piracy isn't a lost sale, but a lost potential sale.

I'm not supporting piracy or saying that it's right (or wrong) but just another angle to look at it. I know people (myself included) that would have never bought certain games if they didn't pirate them first. Take Dragon Age 2 for example..I have a friend that pre-ordered the game and he hates it, and another friend that pirated it, ended up loving it so he bought it.

This.

That's not to say that pirates are warm and cuddly, but let's not forget that some of them will invariably go out and buy this game (and perhaps even the first) as a result of their download before we begin harassing people online. To do so would only reflect badly on the very same company we're trying to protect.
IMO, pirating stuff is a civic duty in most current democracies. Otherwise, you give your money directly to those who lobby for a censored, fully logged & controlled internet etc. Paying money to sponsor a shift towards an orwellian state ? No thanks.

Fortunately, GOG profits go to CDProject only, so i bought the game with a clear conscience. Thanks GOG & CDProject for the option to avoid EA / Atari etc !

This is getting OT. Isn’t there a thread on its own for this? Also, why aren’t solved threads automatically closed :<> ?
I must admit I have never seen so many people on the piratebay telling people to buy the game. Just shows that CD project Red has a huge fan base.

Well can't wait until tomorrow. I just saw the video of that guy playing the witcher 2. (gameplay) I must admit that looks really awesome.
Some people like teenagers and students cannot afford the game. Other people, like myself, have grown sceptical towards the gaming industry for bringing us heaps amount of s*** games over the years, so we use cracked game as an extended demo.

When i heard about The Witcher in 2009, a game from frickin Poland, i didnt know what to belive. WTF is this ? So i pirated the game... Fell completely in love and ended up buying 6 copies of the game + the sequel so far.

So piracy can indeed be a good thing. I am sure tens of thousands, if not in the hundreds of thousands, copies sold of TW1 stems from pirates being honest after liking the game, and also from them spreading it to their friends and family.

Going to a torrent site and spamming the comments wont change a thing.
It will only make you look like an idiot.

I've never even heard of the Witcher series until I torrented a copy of the Witcher Enhanced Edition.

I played that and loved it so much, I went and bought the second one off gog.com and paypal'ed them an extra $20 to boot!
In truth i am not an advocate for piracy and think everyone should get paid for their efforts, but i have too ask a question? how many times is the developer or artist supposed to get paid for thier work?

When Napster was big just before the music companies got mad and started sueing everybody i down loaded alot of music. I down loaded a fuck load of albums but in my case every album i downloaded i actually had and still do have a copy of the album on its original format vinyl. Yes i am that old that i have several rolling stones albums original press on a record. So as i am looking around i see Sticky Fingers by the Rolling Stones and i DL it, i would have so loved to be in court on that one. I would have loved to roll in my album collection (i have almost 1000 different albums) and asked the question since i already paid for Sticky fingers once and the material has not changed what entitles the music company or the artist to more money?

Now the game companies do have a right to complain about PC priacy but greed is not sated easily so now they want to go after the used game market. They contend that when a game is sold brand new and played then traded they are getting screwed. Bullshit, whether the game is bought by the rental company or an individual and traded to a rental company the game company still got paid. How many times is a game company entitled to be paid for the same product. Is a tooth brush manufacturer entitled to get paid everytime you brush your teeth? Fuck no.

So i wonder if the console market is so lucrative, so worth getting into or is it just an excuse for game companies to crank out a shitty game and still get paind for the shitty game. If i rent it and i like it i will probably buy it, they like that. But if i rent it and it sucks i do not buy it and they do not like that feeling they are entitled to get paid for shitty work. Somehow thier lack of getting paid is my fault when in reality thier lack of getting paid is because thier game is a shitty game and not worth the money. PC piracy is a problem and i agree that if you know a pirate turn them in, but anything else is just greed.
