Out of anticipation, I angrily posted due to delayed exe. I feel like an idiot, and have since begun consuming Crow Pie..My W2 Exe posted a delay...I figured out the thread. W2 is alive and well on my machine, so far, plays great..much better than its younger brother' tip to toe.'.Very challenging...Will be playing many times..may even finish this one...First edition Witch completed, however, the mechanics were as falty as Gothic series...Today, Witcher is far removed from a bonified quality problem --- so far..I am optimistic that this will continue..CDPROJCT is a caring company, I refuse to believe turning their backs on us...Thank you guys...Great Job..Peace
Apparantly the game is not even out in my country. It comes out in 3 days. That's just stupid in my opinion. However since I got it here on GoG I feel happy.

I'm going to try the controller out.
it is indeed a hard game. harder then what i'm used to. also died quite a couple of times when you had to dispatch the guards guarding the ballista.

but as soon as you get used to it and prepare yourself for battle with potions/oils, combat becomes very satisfying and enjoyable :)

I died at least a dozen times in the start on Normal, but eventually I got the hang of the spells and the diving and that made it MUCH MUCH easier. I LOVE the difficulty to start. I don't want to never die like in Mass Effect or the likes. I prefer having to fail to learn. Makes it much more satisfying when you figure it out.
Okay, just discovered a checkbox on gameplay screen labeled "Difficult QTEs" I died over and over on the dragon/bridge section. I was getting to the f&*k this game stage here. I de-checked that setting and it did all the dodging and whatnot for me. I just walked through it.

I never saw where the flashing prompts displayed, honestly. I'd be dead so fast that I never had a chance to look. In a nutshell, the opening QTE appears to have "Frustratingly Difficult" or "Pointlessly Easy" settings...
This game must have had zero play testing. Killing a new player 20 times in a row on normal difficulty during the first encounter is ridiculous.

So's a player who doesn't reduce his dif settings after the first 10 times ;-)

I actually like that aspect of it. Firstly, it's not a clone of some other game so that we all know how to play it before it starts. It has it's own mechanics, sticks to it and it's for us to find out how to use all advantages. Second, there've been too many easy games recently.

But I understand it can get frustrating. So here's something to cheer you all up:

At least I"m not the only one having these problems. I just started my own thread and thought wth is wrong with me? This is like the first time in years that I die in any game, and on the first fight too. It"s supposed to be the tutorial.

Then again, I despise these action RPGs where you have to manually block and so on. It's my fault for not reading up on TW2. I thought it would be like the first one.

Still I like a challenge, but after getting my ass handed to me at the first fight (not even at the dragon, I'm still at the ballista with absolutely no chance at all) for about 20 times I'm just tired.

At least I got some good info on the forums. Like that I should have all signs already and that I also should have potions already - I haven't even been to the inventory screen yet. The tutorial part sucks big time imho. Still the story and the graphics are awesome, much better then Dragon Age 2 for example. If it just weren't for this new combat system...

Let's really hope that it will become easier at some point. I really can't stand games where I have to do a boss fight countless of time just because my reaction is too slow. Those are games for kids but I'm too old for that.
i'm actually really happy to see that the game isn't dumbed down to the character level

i want enemies to be the same difficutly from beginning to end. meaning as i level up, they become easier.

i hate how so many games have enemies level WITH you. if you rush through game you can beat final boss at level 5 super easy, but if you go slow and pimp your guy somehow the final boss is liek lvl 100 and hard as hell.

the boss should ALWAYS be hard as hell. you should have to level up to lvl 100 to beat him. he shouldn't be easier cause you suck ass.
@Hinscher: I do partly agree with you. But if I play a RPG I want the combat be based not on my personal reflexes but on the reflexes of my character represented by some numbers. I know this a hot topic as other people like the action part, I just feel too old for this.

Throwing a new player into the deep side of the pool is not difficulty. It is bad design. You don't need to do a tutorial but the first encounter should be more forgiving so that a new player can figure out what works without totally trashing immersion in the first 10 minutes. You know, an opportunity to put in practice what we learned by reading the manual before even launching the program.

Sure, video game hobbyists will persevere. Some may even take it as a point of pride. What about normal people though?

are you NOT only just in teh prologue or just finished with it?

so isn't you character you know approximately LVL 1, and by end game will be LVL 50 or whatever it is.

So will your characters reflexes improve as you level up. coincidentily so will your own fine tune and reflex playing the game.

But this is the prologue, unless they dumb down the enemies for you, you should be shitty compared to end game.

Don't worry, as the character advances it get's much easier to do things.

Yeah, I agree it could be better. I still love it though ^.^

What difficulty are you guys playing at? On "normal" it's not that hard... first run.. must learn.. hard and Insane waits! Remember that both mouse buttons means attack, fast/strong, suitable for different opponents. And with signs/traps to help... I'm getting one finishing move after another!
