Personally I think the game is over-priced for what it is, and I like the game and have it on disc.

Aside from a few games like the recentish Star Trek ones and Diablo and WarCraft etc, which you cannot really compare the game to, not in the same league or same type of provider, there is no good reason to be so highly priced. And certainly been plenty of other games here that were much cheaper, that you can compare it to.

After all this time and a few sales, it is still a lousy 15% off.

I think I should pay less than $10 AUD, but I'd still buy it if $10 AUD, unfortunately it hasn't gotten close to even that yet.

I bought the Middle-Earth Mordor game for $7.29 AUD a few days ago, and could not help but reflect on what was still being asked for Wheel Of Time on sale. I remember what I paid for a bunch of Tomb Raider games, and many many others, and just shake my head at what GOG want us to pay for Wheel Of Time.

And while we are talking prices, I still maintain those Star Trek games and Diablo and WarCraft are over-priced anyway, even on sale.

I will continue to wait until we get a proper discount, but it sure as heck rubs me the wrong way, GOG Exclusive or not. Might as well be unavailable if you are going to ask too much for a game. Some folk of course, don't have much financial sense or patience, paying what they often do for games, and only encourage high pricing. That lack of care means we are all expected to pay more than we should.

buckybit: I know, this is a sensitive subject.

Game pricing is a science in itself. Everyone is struggling with it: publishers, developers, but also 'customers'.

"5 bucks" used to be 'a thing' on GOG, re-releasing old titles, moving them out of their 'abandonware' status and cleaning them out from 20-year old still running fan website's download sections.

The price of 'old games' is not based on costs. It is set by somebody trying to factor in different aspects, including the 'value' of such a game compared to other games (and other forms of entertainment!). And that 'value' is highly subjective.

"How many units can we sell?" - at a certain price point, is always the question. Discounts are the next level of 'how many units can we sell at THAT price level?"

What has increasingly happened on GOG is that those '5 bucks' games have turned into '10 bucks' games a while ago. This is something each publisher on GOG does - this is not a GOG decision. They just host the games. They don't make the prices.

Is it the current oil price? The rising costs of living? The rising inflation? The supply-chain shortage?

What makes publishers decide to ask for the amount they ask for, for games that nobody but the publisher (license holder) is getting paid for? Those developers from 20-30 years ago are not going to see a dime from it. So, how do you decide on 'how can we make a profit?' in such cases, when no work has to be done - besides the bit of "we 'restored' it, so it runs great on Windows 10" week(?) work and finding good looking unrelated fan-art to put on the GOG Store.

It is not about "this game is 'worth' such and such". It is also not the sole question of 'value-per-hour' (compared to other games or movies or reading books). It is about acknowledging 'Good Old Games' as what they are: not a money-making cow (which they can no longer be), but something to be sold to 'as many people as possible', to have them enjoy the classics at a price 'as low as possible'? Spread these classic games wide, around the world. Including, countries with low income, to kids with no income?

Is that not as good a goal as to make like '5 bucks' more from the 'usual GOG buyer' at launch and have those kids having to wait until they can afford the game (if ever)?

Just wondering ...
i am 34 and have played every game ever, i did not know about wot, i blindly bought it for $1.49 on gog, and its the best singleplayer game ive played in my whole entire life. A pure masterpiece

i set C to third person mode and X to first person mode, i had so much fun in WOT. It was like dark souls as princess diana or something

i made tons of vids of it on my youtube randalmcdaniel i became kinda obsessed. Im finding it hard to enjoy deus ex1 and hexen1/2 after that masterpiece that was wheel of time. It just makes all other games seem childish in comparison

THE WHEEL... OF... TIME. Thats the biggest trolloc ive ever seen!!! (wait out the credits at the end of this game trust me)

seriously maybe the best singleplayer linear game ive ever played in my life. WOT owns i will never forget WOT
