Hi, I'm new to this site so I apologize in advance if this isn't the right place to ask this, or if it's because of an obvious "noob" mistake.
My problem is that when I try to download The Settlers 2: Gold Edition, I get a message saying that "there was an error requesting the file" (E1003)
Is this because of a problem with the download server. or something I'm doing wrong?

No, nothing you're doing wrong. I assume you're using the GOG downloader? I tried downloading it using the browser and got a 404. I think they messed up the source file for this one.
Try it again in a few hours, hopefully they'll post a message here too.
I got the 404 when trying to download it by the browser too, so you're probably right about that

Yeah, the file is down for some reason.
I just sent a mail to support.
They updated the file a while ago so maybe they made a mistake, like if it points to the old file that does not exist anymore.
I have the same problem, let's hope they solve this soon
I got the same problem, and I sent it in to support, hopefully they answer soon. :S

That was quite a long time ago... a digital distribution service kinda implies convenience, doesn't it? Feel free to send your own note to support! Provide as much info as possible, and be pleasant! They'll fix it but hopefully soon.
I just sent my own support note as well, hopefully that will bring some more attention to this issue :)

Guys, keep in mind that the file went MIA during the holydays and that gog support doesn't work weekends.
I'm sure this will be fixed soon.

This kinda thing was probably broken by a change just before the holiday (bad move, but, lesson learned), and can still probably be fixed by remote. I don't know of any business that won't at least check emails even on holiday.
Still, we can turn in support requests, can't we? I'm sure as long as we're NICE, and give loads of info, it will actually help support diagnose the problem.

Sure thing mate, more support tickets can't hurt.
All i'm saying is, 4 days without an answer from support is understandable considering the holydays and the weekend.
Let's all be patient and i'm sure this will be fixed soon.
Damn, this is the only one of my latest purchases that I wanted to download and play right away! :)
