TLJ is my favourite adventure game of all time as well, and I've been playing adventure games since 1983. Anyone who enjoys good stories, dialogue, and writing really needs to play this game all the way through.
And there's nothing wrong with walkthroughs. Some people play games for the challenge and others play for the story and immersion. Whatever way is the most rewarding and enjoyable is the right way to play the game.

Just finished the game for the first time, and have to agree with everyone else- absolutely amazing. Best adventure game I've played to date... even though my first PC game (Kings Quest VI) still has a high place in the pantheon.
