The dev answered a question about the gog patch on their own forums:

So apparently the newest patch is on the way.
I have no issues except that game crashes every time when I try to quit it. Annoying...
Still no updates.

Steam Patch 8 Updates The Long Dark to v1.12 (32503)
I was thinking about getting this game, but if they are behind patch-wise...
Let's hope GOG will catch up eventually.
It's not GOG being behind. It's Hinterland being behind. GOG publishes the updates within 24 hours after receiving them.

Like said before, Hinterland does a great job but this is getting out of hand. I'm starting to get annoyed again due to the complete lack of communication towards this community.
It sucks to be treated like a 2nd class customer. I feel like they put the game on here just to get the extra cashflow going, with no intentions to do decent community work.
I'm curious if GOG is holding off on doing anything with patches they are receiving because they know more patches are soon to follow so why waste the time, or if Hinterland isn't sending them off to GOG, or what the deal is.

It's not GOG holding back,
It's Hinterland that has not done any updates for GOG version,
On the Hinterland web site it says they are working on it,
Mind you they told us the same thing about 10 days ago

wow, that's really disconcerting, especially now that it is monday afternoon and still nothing
Yeah it's sad. Looking at other problems they're facing I must say they're doing an incredible job but they are in a stressful situation atm. There's a lot of things that didn't went as they would have liked them to go.

I've told them that the lack of updates isn't my main concern/irritation but the complete lack of communication towards the GOG community is. Their reaction was that they're working on the update... which is a weird answer to someone pointing out a communication problem. Seems like I didn't express myself correctly or they didn't interpreted it in the way I meant "communication problem". :/

A little transparency will always go a long way with customers, especially when it comes to building goodwill.

this is really annoying

It looks like they're in full swing work mode over at Hinterland Studios, doing everything except worrying about the GOG patch. It's been almost a month since release. I agree the lack of communication is what is unexcusable, just a couple words goes a long way, and that they're not indicates to me that they don't really care.

2nd class customers is not a good feeling
The 1.12 update is finally here. Now downloading...
Yes it's here! :D Still not a word about it though.
Maybe i'm weird that the lack of communication bothers me more than the update itself? :p

Edit: I've placed a reaction about this on the Hinterland forums. I hope everyone here agrees as this isn't a thing that should be hard to fix. :)
