OlausPetrus: I didn't mean that you'll have to answer, I simply meant that amount of customer support affects to my attitude towards the Harvester Games and their products i. e. if I want to see more of their games in GOG. Others have asked that question already, but so far there has been no answer from the developer (or at least I haven't seen one).

I might have sounded bit annoyed (I was), but personally I feel that if there's a major bug which prevents you from seeing and experiencing one of the endings, then it should be fixed in all versions. And like I said I only support having GOG version of Downfall, if I know for certain that it will get the bug fixes too.
Sure, no argument here - having my GamersGate fixed would be nice - I already have Screen7 distribution (which is also going to Desura), but it would be fair to update the GG version.

Novotnus: As I saind, you need to contact Mark - either here on GOG, using Screen7 support form or mailing him (support [at] screen7 [dot] co [dot] uk. I'm sure he, as the publisher, can give help you better than me, being a simple fan of the game :)

Yeah, I feel mostly the same, tried to contact him it in the past, already, but then there was no Harvester Game site anymore.
So yes, we should encourage/tell Screen7 and Michalski more that there is a already DRM FreeGamersGate Version wanting to be fixed.
:)

I just did :)
Downfall on GamersGate has nothing to do with me or Screen 7 I'm afraid, so (certainly for now, though I will nudge him about it) you'll need to contact Remi about that one and any issues/requests with your GG copy.

I'm not blaming you for anything (you're responsible only for the version which you sell), but it would be nice if you could pass our concerns to Remi. I understand that Harvester Games is basicly a one man company and while the game itself isn't expensive and everyone could probably afford to buy it from the several places, it annoys me that customer has to guess which places sell the most recent version and which places sell outdated and broken versions. It would be fair to stop selling those unsupported versions (I just recently got my copy, which is why I'm so upset) or offer at least some basic support, like fixing the gamebreaking bugs.

Gamersgate has apparently updated Downfall at some point (I don't know when as they didn't give any notice about it). However I'm wondering about the version numbering. It's currently 1.4, when it previously was 2.0. So, I thought that maybe you guys know what's behind that?

A gamebreaking bug and some minor censoring in 2.0 + loss of source to fix it.
Now my backup of 2.0 becomes something unique :)

So, if I undestand correctly 2.0 lost part of the source code, which caused this game breaking and annoying bug, and made it impossible to fix the issues. So, Harvester Games went back to earlier build and developed that further. Bit confusing. :)

Nope (as far as I know - ask m0ds if you want to know for sure :)). There was a bug in 2.0. They wanted to fix it, add voiceovers and release a kind of 'deluxe' version.
But the source code for entire Downfall is beyond reach for some reason - so all Screen7 can do is release one of the builds that they have. They picked 1.4 which lacks some tweaks (like new font and rearranged GUI) but also doesn't have the bug in Surrender ending :)

Thanks for elaboration. It's most unfortunate that they couldn't make this deluxe version, I think good voice acting would have improved Downfall. I don't mean to say that it's a bad game (it's not), but these days I'm kind of used to voice acting in adventure games and it feels bit weird if game doesn't have any.
The chainsaw is missing. :)
