Euroleo: Well, I beat the game (after 30 years first time playing it). I agree with you, first two Mangar Tower levels are best late game grinding area. I literally put some demons to rest.

Now, that I am finished there actually is quite little replaying motivation. I hope for the sequel to be released soon. For all I experienced you can actually APAR through the first 3 levels of the tower, as you mentioned.
Well, you could prepare for the next game in the series. A few notes based off the original versions of the games:
* Do your mages have access to level 7 Sorcerer spells? The Dreamspell is of that level, and it is the most powerful spell in the game.
* Do you have the Specter Snare? That item does transfer, and is quite good in BT2 (and can't be found there to my knowledge). (It does not, however, transfer to BT3.)
* Some items, like the Ybarrashield, do not transfer, so try to make sure you aren't overly reliant on such items.
* AC goes lower, to -21 (instead of only -10).
* In BT2, Elf Cloak > Ali's Carpet. The Elf Cloak now provides -3 AC, better than the carpet, and everyone can use it. (Note, however, that this changes in BT3; Ali's Carpet is more important there, as the Elf Cloak is now limited to certain classes, and it has been moved to a different equipment slot so characters wearing it will want Ali's Carpet).
* You will, of course, want an Archmage in BT2 (in fact, it's actually *required* to beat the game), so have at least one spellcaster ready to change classes.
* In BT2, enemy HP eventually gets really high, so having a good Hunter can be useful until you start finding Stoneblades (but are then not that good due to poor (for a frontline character) armor selection. Rogues are still useless; they don't become useful until BT3.
One fight of the berserkers pretty well bummed me out. But only one Spectre/specter snare on top of that is just lame.

mmeewezen: Has anyone else noticed this too?
In legacy mode, everything is same as original. Non-legacy mode, those seem to be the only monsters that do not re-spawn (other than the crystal golem and Mangar himself). Once you get high enough, grinding on 3rd and 4th levels of Mangar's tower beats that anyway. Run into 112 Gimps, and tell me you don't like THOSE Exp points!

mmeewezen: You can try the 69 Wights lurking near the stairway at level 3 of the Catacombs. It's the best grind I have found so far -I am now at Mangars-.
Yeah, beat those, then teleport to the stairway; head down to level three.

only fight the ghouls and wights near the stairway on level three. then go back up to the 69 wights on 2nd level.

One can teleport back and forth from that 69-wight-room to the stairway, then walk no more than 20 squares in those two 3rd-level encounters. I built up two nearly unstoppable teams and 11 million gold doing that (hoping I can import this party in the upcoming BT II). Now I'm revistiting Mangar's levels three and four, and loving the random encounters with 100+ Gimps! You cannot beat those for Exp Points!

Also, the 96 Samurai and 67 Samurai, as well as the 20 Ghosts and 34 Evil Eyes back and forth in Mangar's Tower (level one and two) will earn more points, once you are strong enough to handle that many samurai. The Dwarves and Kobolds and Mercenaries have lots of gold, but once you get more than you'll ever need, they really don't provide much Exp points.
