Euroleo: Well, I beat the game (after 30 years first time playing it). I agree with you, first two Mangar Tower levels are best late game grinding area. I literally put some demons to rest.
Now, that I am finished there actually is quite little replaying motivation. I hope for the sequel to be released soon. For all I experienced you can actually APAR through the first 3 levels of the tower, as you mentioned.
Well, you could prepare for the next game in the series. A few notes based off the original versions of the games: Now, that I am finished there actually is quite little replaying motivation. I hope for the sequel to be released soon. For all I experienced you can actually APAR through the first 3 levels of the tower, as you mentioned.
* Do your mages have access to level 7 Sorcerer spells? The Dreamspell is of that level, and it is the most powerful spell in the game.
* Do you have the Specter Snare? That item does transfer, and is quite good in BT2 (and can't be found there to my knowledge). (It does not, however, transfer to BT3.)
* Some items, like the Ybarrashield, do not transfer, so try to make sure you aren't overly reliant on such items.
* AC goes lower, to -21 (instead of only -10).
* In BT2, Elf Cloak > Ali's Carpet. The Elf Cloak now provides -3 AC, better than the carpet, and everyone can use it. (Note, however, that this changes in BT3; Ali's Carpet is more important there, as the Elf Cloak is now limited to certain classes, and it has been moved to a different equipment slot so characters wearing it will want Ali's Carpet).
* You will, of course, want an Archmage in BT2 (in fact, it's actually *required* to beat the game), so have at least one spellcaster ready to change classes.
* In BT2, enemy HP eventually gets really high, so having a good Hunter can be useful until you start finding Stoneblades (but are then not that good due to poor (for a frontline character) armor selection. Rogues are still useless; they don't become useful until BT3.
