Just bought the Tex murphy pack and started playing UAKM.
I get totaly anal with the settings of these things to get them running just perfectly, som after fiddling with trying to get smoother videos (and finding the "solution" on this forum) i noticed that the sound is really Jerky and jumpy.

I managed to get the music to stop jerking by changing midi card. But the sound and speach i find no good solution for.
Anyone got any tips, or am I just anal that think that i can get old games to run fantasticly :)

not sure about the jerky sound but at one time I go this sqeaky sound that used to pop up so I edited the sound in dos box config file in the gog folder.
should be - dosboxtex3conf file . You may have to set properties as administrator to edit the settings in this file.

[mixer]
# nosound -- Enable silent mode, sound is still emulated though.
# rate -- Mixer sample rate, setting any devices higher than this will
# probably lower their sound quality.
# blocksize -- Mixer block size, larger blocks might help sound stuttering
# but sound will also be more lagged.
# prebuffer -- How many milliseconds of data to keep on top of the blocksize.

nosound=false
rate=22050
blocksize=2048
prebuffer=240 - this line I changed to 240
high rated
GOG needs to update their config files to the new DOSBox standards. Plumgas' settings may work, but I find the following to be even better.

[mixer]
nosound=false
rate=44100
blocksize=1024
prebuffer=50

[sblaster]
sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
sbmixer=true
oplmode=auto
oplemu=default
oplrate=44100

Make sure to have the IRQ/DMA of the game the same as the DOSBox config file.
Great work! Both of you.
It was the squeeky and jerky sound i meant. its hard to describe a sound. But i tried Vagabonds big solution and it worked fantasticly.
Thanks!

No problem! Try those settings for all your other DOSBox games and see if there's good results.

Am I supposed to copy those settings into the config-file below all the other settings? Cos I couldn't find [mixer] or [sblaster] in my configfile.

Your "dosboxtex3.conf" should have those sections in it. If they aren't (which would be odd), go ahead and add them.

Oh, now I found it. Turns out I was looking in the wrong file. Silly me. But this config didn't work in my game, it just gave me a warning about something being not found or disabled at the startup, and then there were no sound at all.

Thats because you have changed the soundcard type, you have to go into the config menu in the game and change the soundcard settings.

*facepalm*

...and I call myself a computernerd. Sometimes I just think my brain goes for a long walk without telling me. Thanks, it works nicely after I reconfigured the soundcard ingame XD

I don't see why not. Should be fine.
