Margaret7321: Ah that is good, they basically follow this up with a random 'McAfee has new updates and neeeds to restart your computer' type of update, so lets hope whenever that happens this game's exe will be included to their exclusions list!
Actually, they included the exe :(
I've received EXTRA.DAT file from Avert Labs and now McAfee detects Generic.TRA!4802d90217be Trojan.
It seems, it is time to change antivirus software. Pity, I have still half a year of a payed subscription ...

GOG people - please contact McAfee ...

Has anyone checked the file with NOD32?
Not saying that the file is at fault, just to see if every AV has that problem.

Yes, I use NOD32 (the 64-bit version). I haven't had any problems with it.
Rumor has it the GoG version is from GCW. No linky provided because I like my membership here.

Now, I don't know if it is version 2 or version 3, but I've heard rumblings it is 3. Version 2 is put out by DEViANCE, a reputable hacker group in the scene. Version 3 is by Hans Schulze. I'd recommend v2 over v3, as 1) The Co8 patch strongly recommends v2, 2) they've already fixed the bugs fixed in TOEE v3, and 3) I have no idea who Hans Schulze is.

Does anyone know if v2 triggers the same warning? It doesn't appear to be packed. I guess that means that some of the code is in an overlay or something...
I have had it with this company. These downloads are not working and they tell you to take it up with your virus protection company!

I tried downloading one game and it is my last game from this site! Don't like getting ripped off.

So, to clarify, you are saying that the downloads (as in the plural, all in general) are not working, yet you then say you've only tried downloading one game. O_o

GOG aren't perfect, but then nobody is. If you check the threads in the forums, however, you'll find that at least one GOG staff member has already said they are speaking with anti-virus companies to try to help resolve this issue.

Let's see....i've downloaded and played close to a hundred games from this site...out of the hundred i've played, i've only had problems with say 5 or 6 that were "unplayable" with my machine and i haven't exhausted my resourses on trying to work around those yet. SO...even if i never play those 5 games, it'd say a 95% sucess rate is a pretty nice figure

I would also like to point out that even if GOG (or you) had reported the problem to the antivirus company on the very first day that the problem occurred, it would take 4 to 6 WEEKS before the antivirus company would respond at all, and that wouldn't be a guarantee of a fix.

Not exactly GOG's fault here...
Mine doesn't work right either, so...

...I uninstalled it, shrugged, and I'm playing Morrowind while I wait for this to get straightened out. I understand your frustration, but there are SO many other games out there, there's plenty to do while you wait. This will be resolved if you are patient.
If you haven't tried exploring the ToE folder itself yet, give it a go. If you find a file called ToEE3.exe then you don't need to worry anymore - just use that executable, make a direct access icon for it and you'll be fine. Don't use the icon the game installs, because there simply is no ToEE.exe. The game runs with the one I said, though, so if you haven't tried this yet, do it. It worked for me!

Nearly a hundred games? Wow. I have 31 or 32 (can't remember). Temple is only game out of them in which I've had my AV throw a benny at. I solved this by uninstalling AVG. I might switch to NOD32 later, but for now I'm just enjoying having significantly faster boot up times.
Does anyone know if there will be any further updates?

I'm running into the exact same problem with McAfee and ToEE. I've tried installing it 3 times, which has been an hour and a half waste of my time - not to mention the waste of money. Not that it's GOG's fault, but this is just way too much effort to put into to be able to play a game.

I regret my purchase on GOG and will not be using their services in the future.
It doesn't look like anything will be done about this problem. Not cool.
