Are there any official patches I should know about for this game or is it already fully patched? Also, are there any unofficial patches for this game that fix a lot of bugs? I know some of these games have a modding fan base that keep up to date unofficial patches for it, just not sure if this one does. I've never played this game before and I'd like to have it as up to date as possible. Cheers!
Sorcerers.net has an unofficial patch hosted, as you can see here, which apparently fixes some major bugs. I'm assuming it isn't part of the GOG install, seeing as how it's unofficial.

EDIT: There are also the Circle of Eight mods, which provide an exponentially larger number of bugfixes. To use those, you'll need to patch over the 3.0 patch with the 2.0 patch, because it's imcompatible with the 3.0 patch (which the Co8 fixes include anyway). I don't think the unofficial patch works with those, but you shouldn't need to use it if you're using the Co8 mod anwyay.

Ive got a problem, i just got to level 2 with my characters and they wont gain max hp on level up. Does anyone know what patch i should use to fix this? I know they have patches at sorcerers but i am not sure if gog fixes most of it, or if i should download the official patches (1-3) or the unofficial patch. I dont think i want the unofficial since i want to play the game vanilla. The game has a slowdown every once in a while as well during combat, does anything fix that i remove everything when i am playing the game so its not the computer. Any help is much appreciative.

Is the GOG version already patched?

edit: Yes, already patched.

Downloading ToEE now (got it at 30% off...giggity), so I immediately checked this forum to see if there are any recommended patches.

But all this stuff here in this thread has me confused.

Is the GOG version already patched properly? Or do I still need to patch it with something different?

Many people suggest the use of one of the Circle of 8 patches, since there are still bugs in the game, even fully patched.

You can get a range of patches from a fairly basic bug fix through to one with a lot of additional content.

Do Character editors work with this Circle of 8 Patch?
I have already encountered bugs here in Hommet.

The Grove quest will not complete. I killed the spiders and went back to the woodcutter. It completes and gives XP over and over and never shows as finished.

I tried to complete the Jay's ring quest. When you speak to the druid about the Hemlock he mentions it once. Go back to Jay and it does not come up. Stock the sheeps at night and nothing happens so this quest is also broken.

I am trying the Circle of Eight mod patch to see if it fixes these bugs.

Yes the GOG version is patched with the official patches, so you can install the Circle of Eight mod directly after the GOG install.

Circle of Eight has a toggleable option in the launcher to give characters max HP on level up. It is off by default, so you will have to find it to check it. The game was designed to only allow you a die roll instead of getting max HP, but the modders added in the option. I personally leave it off for a "pure" experience.
Well I did install the Cir of 8 mod patch and it seems to be running correctly because I now start the game through the Mod patch.

I started an entirely new game afterwards and was hoping all the quests would be fixed. Is it just me?

The Grove quest is still broken. I killed the spiders and each time I talk to the woodcutter the book flashes yellow and I get XP but it still is not showing as complete and it still gives you XP each time you talk to the woodcutter.

I spoke to the cleric at the temple about the brooch but the quest still shows as incomplete.

I solved the work camp spy quest and when I talk to the guys ion the tower it flashes complete and they offer me 100 GP ( which never actually appears and 50 GP which also never appears). It also always shows as incomplete. When you talk to the other 2 guys at the trade post it does the same thing. They offer me 100 GP which doesn't appear and the quest never shows as complete.

When I talk to the lady in the cellar of the church about the flour. It flashes yellow on the book but does not appear as a quest. When I talk to the Miller it does not appear in the dialog. Every time I talk to the lady in the cellar, it is the same dialog about the flour.

I like this game but it seems the Circle of 8 mod patch has fixed nothing although I did almost complete the ring quest, it still does not show as complete even though I already caught the boy.

I have looked online but I seem to be the only one who cannot get these quests to show as complete even though I actually did complete them.

Is this just me? Is nobody else having the same problems with this game not completing the quests?

I am sure I installed the mod 8 patch correctly as it installed and seems to be running fine.

I cannot continue to play this game with the quests not showing as complete. I am prepared to start another game yet again but only if it can be played by the quests actually showing as complete.

I am at a compete loss. Any advice from anybody? I run this game on a computer with Windows XP.

HOLY COW!

AFAIK, all problems with quests not updating/completing are due to having an NPC in the leftmost (first) position in your party (in terms of the row of portraits displayed at the lower left corner of the screen). Switch a PC to the first position and your problems will go away.

This is a known problem since the release of ToEE and was somehow not completely fixed as there was an easy workaround.

I will try it again and see id it works. I will let you guys know.

Thanks for the reminder, I'll have this fixed in Temple+ ;)

Other than making sure that you talk to the right people to get directions to Welkwood Bog, Delko Grove, Emridy Meadows, the Moathouse and (eventually) Nulb, there is no requirement to do any of the Homlett quests. Well, you need to finish the Moathouse quest, but all others are optional. SO other than the aesthetic value of an all-green quest log, I wouldn't sweat it if more than a few are incomplete.

Quick question - i only found out about the patches after installing and was going to add them to my game using wine (installing on mac)

Will i still be able to load my previous saved games from the orignal GOG version after installing the patch or will they be incompatible ?
Well making sure that you have PC in the far left position of the bottom portraits will indeed fix the quests not being recognised problem.

The game p!ays well, only problem now seems to be NPC's walk about burdened with loot and refuse to sell or trade any of it and complain about it on occasion.

They are incompatible. If you install either of the Co8 mods (normal or NC), you will need to start a new game.
