DamienWind: I have to gripe a bit at any blues watching this thread.. this install was a tremendous fail! My first GOG game with DLC and I'm kind of leery of buying more in the future.. feels like the second we move beyond a simple setup+patch there has to be trickery involved to get it working.. not good! :|
I agree wholeheartedly with you. I bought this game on GOG because I expected GOG's usual ease of use: one file, just install that. What we got are several files, no official instructions/help on the order of installing them. I shudder to think what a mess it would be if this was a game that was still being updated/developed.

This is definitely the last DLC I buy on GOG.

From a blue post in another thread, 1.1.10 patch:

Please write to Support if you're having technical issues with the patch.

If you have the Gold DLC, then there's no need to install the MindGames DLC patch as the Gold Editionn supersedes that. The patch was released for those who ONLY have the the base game + MindGames.

1 install the pit. short directory name. (I used SotsThePit)
2. framework, repair.
3. play game. worked.
4. install mindgames.
5. play game. worked (version 1.18)
6. Don't install mindgames patch
7. play game. worked (version 1.2.3) (2 game icons, both look at same file (pit.exe))

Funny that the manual is smaller with the Gold version (size and fewer pages).
Is mindgames the right manual to use?

The manual for "Mindgames" actually contains two manuals. The original manual for the base game and one for "Mindgames", which is placed in front and contains descriptions for all the new stuff that was added.

Ah, that makes sense.

Followed this and the game *does* work. Game version 1.2.4. I skipped the mIndgames DLC patch. But the Gold Upgrade patch patch_sword_of_the_stars_the_pit_gold_2.2.0.18 comes up with errors. Should i be using that at all??
i did it the wrong way too...i´ve installed the core game, Mindgames, the Mindgames patch, and then Gold, now the Gold patch refuses to work and tells me that my version is incorrect, in the main screen it still says: Version 1.2.4.
So can anyone confirm whether the Gold patch is needed at all?
hey, do you have that Mindgames 2.3.1 exe?
That did it for me - the older Mindgames mainfile + patch got me errors.
Now it works fine.
DRM, DLC, F2P, the doom of nowaday pc gaming.
It seems that there's no need to install patches at all. I installed The Pit -> Mind Games -> Gold without any patches and I have version 1.2.4 now.
