CLBrown: Just chiming in with my own "can't wait" sentiment. This looks (and sounds) like how I remember the original game, rose-colored glasses and all. While memory fills in the blanks with better imagery than was really there, this is how it "really looked" in my imagination. OUTSTANDING work, guys!

I'm curious... with this being in Unity, could it possibly support VR... or at least 3DVision and TrackIR as options? The idea of turning my head to look around in my fighter's cockpit... but in this classic gameplay mode... is just too amazing to NOT include! While my only VR at the moment is GearVR, I do have shutter glasses and head tracking on my pc which I use extensively in flight simming.
It already has VR and TrackIR, more or less.

What does "more or less" mean?

I know that Unity has the ability to support those features... but it's an option. Are you saying you're aware of those features being used in this specific instance? If so, how do you know... and have you used them, personally, in this game (ie, are you a beta-tester or a member of the dev team?)

I saw some active testers streaming on twitch, VR is still a bit glitchy. Track IR seems fine.
While I helped test the game very early on I have neither VR not TrackIR.

Correct. TrackIR in XWVM has worked well for years. VR is still maturing, though bugs are getting squashed all the time. Many VR bugs have been Unity bugs which has made progress on that front slow historically. It's on in the last few months with recent Unity versions that serious work on VR has been practical.
Is the release date for the mod has been established? Year, month? Thx for answer.
No release date has been established.

It'd be nice to see some new demo since the last one was dated 2018.

I do sincerely hope that the XWVM team will be able to produce a new one this year.
Initial alphas worked fine for me, but at some point an update broke something on my machine, and game wasn't starting anymore (which means from then on I couldn't even reach the following update links), hence I haven't tried in a long time

Recently I restarted from scratch from an early build, was able to get the newest update links and install a working copy again... i just wanted to say that the new X-Wing cockpit looks *fantastic*, and the "retro" led style, numeric dials in particular, is great and a spot on recreation of the actual movie look
Hope the remaining ships gets remodelled in the same fashion, it just fits so well

Is this mod still active and download?

I see no files listed on the moddb.com site?

Still in development.

There are still a lot things to iron out before a public release.

Also the devs don't want to blab too much about it before it's actually ready in case Disney decides to issue a cease & desist like they did with the KOTOR remake.
Just an update for people that might look in here and are new to XWVM.

The project is under active development and the most information can be found at the XWVM discord channel. Much has already been accomplished but there is still quite much work to do for the small team of developers.

Ah that's good to know, will be pity with all the work done. On Discord, I follow the stream of Rasi Talon, but nothing new since June. I hope he is ok.

Best.
Edit: just noticed I didn't read/accept the rules on the server

So, it's been more than a year since the last post here, and only a few posts have been made on Mod DB's project page (though those look encouraging).

But... is anyone actually running and testing this? I saw a note on the Mod DB page that there were testers who had "graduated" into that roll from the GOG forums, which I presume meant this forum page. So, I was hoping to see some form of progress listed here.

I did note, earlier, that there's something on Discord, but I don't use Discord, and really have no intention to do so. Every year, a few new "social networking" type apps come along, and we're all supposed to immediately jump onto them, but I'm old-fashioned, I guess... I find too many sources of information to be a problem, not an advantage. Especially if the information keeps drifting from one source to another, to another, and you have to hunt down every bit of info.

SOOOOO....

Anyone here aware of any movement towards a releaseable project? X-Wing came out shortly after I graduated from college, and I'd sure like to have a chance to play it in this level of quality before I retire...
It's going... I still have access to an earlier version from when I signed up for alpha testing, but it doesn't automatically update anymore,I suspect my account didnt go into the next wave of testing (fair enough, since i wasn't active)

Anyway, the version I have is already very playable and good looking in the flight engine, very rough in the concourse/briefing screens; not sure what the roadmap is for a "release", but the core gameplay seems completed already

While i can understand the sentiment, its not that you have to marry to a social network application... Discord requires nothing more than a browser, so if you want some news just do a random account, go to the site when you look for updates, and forget its even there after; can't expect this forum on GOG to be the main source of info anyway
