Hi there everyone,

So, I've run into a bit of a problem with my copy of Star Trek Armada II. I originally wasn't able to get the game to launch but eventually a member of the site was able to help me. Now I've got a new issue. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but for the life of me I can't seem to get past it.

If anyone could help me out with this issue I would really appreciate it. I'm not exactly the best with technical issues.

EDIT: It appears I can't attach the image. Basically, I get to the starting menu where you can select Single player, Multiplayer, etc, but it's stuck in the upper left hand corner of my screen and every time I try to go to options to try and fix the issue the game locks up.

Try uninstalling the RNDA fix build and roll back to the one before that

Thanks for replying, appreciate it.

So that didn't work. Do you have any other ideas that might fix it?
step 1 = take a screenshot of what you mean by "it's stuck in the upper left hand corner of my screen"

step 2 = edit that screenshot to be a Jpg instead of Png

step 3 = press the attach button to add the image [see my image]

it would also help to know the system i.e, a such and such laptop running Windows 11

The system is a Windows 10 Legion Desktop And the Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

ok yes that is the same issue most other people are having and its caused by the Gpu being set wrong

you can read other peoples ideas here; https://www.gog.com/forum/star_trek_armada_ii/i_get_a_small_portion_of_the_screen_in_the_top_left_centre/page1

but I'm going to assume you want my help so these are the steps;
1. confirm you don't have the new patch installed [see image 1]
2. goto your game install folder and open the DX app [see image 2]
3. enable aspects and set your defaults to match my image 3 then save any changes... these should be the defaults but just in case they got changed we need to fix them first
4. open your nvidia control panel [see image 4]
5. in 3D settings add the exe for this game and set your good card as the default [see image 5]... this old game uses the default driver and if you don't set that then Microsoft may try to use software instead

step 6 we move on to testing [see image 6] open the game to the UI start screen and see if the 4 icon in bottom right light up when you mouse over them

the final step is to enter the graphics screen and set your screen rez to 1024 and the primery driver [see image 7]

if you hit a snag then take a screenshot and show us where things went wrong... also primery driver means the main screen you look at which could be one of a few enteries if your system has two or more displays... in that case chose primery, primery or your mouse will be out of sync with the desktop screen

The game locks up when I try to get into the graphics options. No idea why. I did follow all the steps and used the DGvoodoo that GOG suggested I use.

the game is locking up because your Gpu is not working correct

have you got the Nvidia software installed? [see my image 4]

I do as far as I know. I had to update the driver to keep the 3D settings window from closing repeatedly every time I tried to open it. Then the computer would constantly lock up when the driver was updated so I had to roll back the driver again. I did attempt to get in touch with my computer's tech support people but I didn't get an answer.

Edit: I didn't have an option to set my good card as default.

ok never ever install any software to your C:\Program Files (x86) folder... Windows will auto block anything running from there for your protection and I don't mean just games

open Galaxy setting [see image 1] and change to path for install and update [see image 2]
literatly any other folder {make a new one] outside of program files will do

then uninstall all your galaxy games or move them if they are big downloads to this new folder... ask your tech support to talk to you about making Windows leave program folder out of scans if you want to understand more but honestly its better to just never use that folder

Alright, I wasn't aware of that.

I'm uninstalling it as I type.

Edit: Still not working.

I still run into this problem.

I apologize for bothering you, but do you have any other ideas on how to get this to run?
what resolution is your desktop screen set to?
and am I correct to think that other games such as Stellaris or World of Warcraft are working ok on your system?
