I don't know how recent it is but on Microsoft's windows 7 compatibility I found this

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=Space%20Rangers%202%3A%20The%20Rise%20of%20the%20Dominators&v=EA&uid=&pf=7&pi=5&c=PC%20Gaming&sc=Role%20Playing&os=32-bit&vd=all

Which basically says that the game's publisher stated that SR2 is officially NOT compatible with windows 7. If that goes for our version I can't say but it sounds like windows 7 users are, and can expect to have more issues than XP users.

Spinx: I just bought and downloaded Space rangers 2 and got into my first tactical battle. While driving a Mech around in manual mode, the game crashes to Desktop and gives me an error "Don't panic this unknown bug just happens? Needless to say I'm panicking. lost my game and the game completely crashed. My next attempt will be to run the game under Compatibility mode and with admin rights. ( I'm running Win 7) wish me luck.

First edit: Found out the crash happens in the tactical game play while capturing a base, the green dots count down and as the last one disappears the game crashes. Any help resolving this one would be awesome. Also doesn't matter if I'm driving the mech or not it happens upon capturing the base.
Well, you're first mistake was buying it from GOG when you could have bought Reboot retail for probably around the same price. Reboot is a standalone expansion that is essentially the same exact thing as buying SR2, except without the Starforce DRM and with some added niceties to spice up the game a bit. Although, GOG frequently makes the claim about a game of theirs not having any kind of DRM, so it's possible you didn't get Starforce with your game, which is great if that's so, but you still missed out on the niceties.

Another nice thing about Reboot is it's better updated. I currently own retail Reboot, and I have no crashing issues thus far, whatsoever, well, except for when I use the auto cheat code for planetary battles. For some reason when I click on my main base, it will crash the game.

Anyhow, since what's done is done, I'd look around online for an update or patch from 1C Company. They must have some good ones by now.

Oh, and keep an eye out for Space Rangers A War Apart. It''s apparently going to be another stand alone expansion. Or maybe it's supposed to be a different game entirely, I don't know, but if it keeps with the pattern of having the previous titles accompanying it, it should have, Space Rangers1, Space Rangers 2/Reboot, and of course itself.

The GOG version includes reboot. And it does not include DRM, especially not Starforce! I have the CD version of Spacerangers 2 but I bought it again from GOG because I was not going to allow Starforce on my current computer.

And thanks for the tip on "A War Apart". I'll keep my eye out for that. I sure would like another Space Rangers expansion!

goletz: The GOG version includes reboot.
Reboot was only added to the GOG version recently... before Doof1234's post but after everything else in this thread.

If the OP or others are still around, does the Reboot upgrade help with ground battle crashes?"
Minor Necro, but no problems encountered running DX 11, so maybe try upgrading
