It's strange that switching windowed mode and back solves this problem sometimes.

Gender selection should still be available. You only get the information that the game is not designed for a female character, but you can still go on. That's just an information for players since you're actually meant to be Corvus' brother.
I saw that you are gathering ideas for 1.07 so here are my suggestions:
- make music not restart after travelling to location in which the same track is playing
- active pause, as in ability to switch spells, open windows and issue commands while in pause mode
- option to rebind controls
- ability to see exact amount of HP and MP when hovering cursor over HP/MP bar
- info about how much money has been looted from corpse

The music thing requires quite heavy changes in the loadmap function. So that's nothing I would change.
Quickly switching spells can be done by assigning them to hotkeys (F3-F12 and 0-9 -not numpad).

The other ones are quite nice ideas, especially the money info. I wrote them to my todo list.

Thanks for the suggestions!
Hi all,

Since today work on Patch 1.07 is finished and can be found there: https://soamigos.de/wbb5/filebase/index.php?file/46-gog-siege-of-avalon-anthology-patch/
Hey all,

so now work on patch version 1.08 is finished and can be found via Link in the first post of this thread.
Helle there,

Patch 1.09 is finished and can be downloaded there:
https://soamigos.de/wbb5/filebase/index.php?file/46-gog-siege-of-avalon-anthology-patch/#versions

Version 1.09 is only a small patch but it also includes a Check for updates button. So in future the information policy will be better. ;-)
Hi all,
since today there's a new Patch ready to be downloaded (Link see above or at topic start).
Most important change would be that items won't vanish anymore if a chest has too many items.
Hi,

so since today a new patch is published. Link can be found at the topic start.
There are just a few changes. Most important the autoupdate function after starting the game. Well, to be more precise it only checks every month if a new patch is published. If yes you'll get the info about it.
Above all I want this function since I'm planing to add event months. Sometimes a new NPC will arrive at the castle for a month and you'll get a new quest from him. And that's why I've added this auto check for updates each month.
Wait, what?
The whole project was supposed to be an unofficial patch to 20 years old game. Not only adding your own quests and NPCs goes against that scope but adding time-limited events is going to change LoA into some kind of game-as-a-service abomination.
Obviously it's your "child" and it's only up to you in what direction are you going to develop it. But let me express my sincere wish that at the very least there's going to be an option to disable that extra content.
I've reached a point where there isn't many things to patch anymore, especially bugfixing. That's why I came up with that idea so that the content of a new patch is bigger.

Of course you will always have the option to decline the event quest by not speaking to the Event-NPC or by rejecting the mission during the dialogue. I could also add an option to disable the Event, so you're not even able to speak to him. But, well..., would that be necessary then?
How would I know that specific NPC is related to an event? I don't know the game as well as you. You either make the NPC a natural fit into a game (which will make the experience unfaithful to the historical medium) or you make their sprite light up like christmas tree or make them state explicitly that their content is fan-made/seasonal (which will damage MUH IMMERSIAN whenever I walk past them). Sorry if I appear hysterical but I just can't see how it can be done in a way that respects the source material (I'm refering to content, this is absolutely not a jab at you as a person) which at this point is something of a digital antique. So I would still appreciate a disable option.
I've already thought about some Eventideas and SoA-lore before mentioning it in this topic. So the whole thing will fit in the story. Maybe you're worrying too much.
In general you will get the info about the Event via update function in a messagebox of the launcher. There are 3 options: No new updates available, New Update available and New Event (with updates) available. In case 3 there will be more info what exactly is happening, something like that: "A Warlord from Elythria has arrived in the throne room and..."

But of course I can add an option in the starter to disable the Event. That shouldn't be a problem. But be aware that you have to check the option everytime a new patch is released since otherwise all the other people have to uncheck the option then.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be but could you offer a choice of which patch to download? One with the updates and no online event stuff included at all and the other which includes the full event stuff package for those who would like it. I'm guessing it will be difficult to do but thought I'd suggest it in case it's not.
In case I haven't made that clear, I don't doubt your ability to write quests that are high-quality and consistent with established lore. It's just important to me to maintain that authentic experience from 20 years ago (ofc with QoL and balancing you've been adding over the years).

Two different versions are quite an expense. Also because there's the old/classic one and the rerelease one (on steam/gog) and I plan to align both of the Versions in future. So the work would be two times two.
Furthermore there are the "Modpakete" where QoL additions are also integrated. That's also something which I need to consider when updating the version.

I got it. Then with the additional option to disable the event you will not notice the event when playing. This is the least work to do and also just needed to be added once in the whole project.
