Are you one of the devs for previous patch versions? In which case, why won't they update GOG's and Steam's default branches?

Some of my fixes and additions were used for Patch 1.02 and 1.03. For Patch 1.04 I've got access to the development branch. The publication of 1.04 which should be in december 2021 was postponed two times becuase they needed more time for a fix related to a crash directly after startup.
Since then I didn't get any answers anymore about the progress.
So maybe lack of interest.

Well, that hardly seems fair. I've seen the changelog and for the most part I think it should be the default way to experience SoA (though I don't think Mithras should be weaker for rangers since you can oneshot him with shadowed arrow anyway) (and I don't want to make an account on some german forum just to download a file).
From what I've gathered SNEG is in some ways subject to GOG so if you want this issue to get traction this forum seems the best place to do so. Maybe consider adding a wish to community wishlist as well.

Maybe I should have added that the contacts I had during development of 1.02 and 1.03 were Elena (Head of SNEG), and with 1.04 Artem (GOG) and Gennadi (Head of General Arcade), too. So then you might understand that a wishlist will not do it.

Of course I can understand that just for one file registering on another forum isn't something everybody wants. But we (german community) want that forum to stil exists in future since it already has existed since 2004. Also without this forum I/we were never been able to make those big patches because the head of the SoAmigos-Forum was able to get the editor files for the game back then (~15 years ago).
With these editor files I was also able to create more stories for the game, most imprtantly the sequel for SoA.

You might misunderstand a point of a wishlist. I believe you when you say you tried to reach out to SNEG and GOG to no avail. But you know what every company has to address eventually? Negative publicity. And a wish might potentially give voice to enough people for GOG to be forced to respond. Alternatively make an online petition or smth. It might work out if you make a post on SoAmigos and Steam Discussion.
This whole ordeal got me annoyed. And you should never underestimate a power of an annoyed guy on the Internet.

Just installed the 1.06 (GOG) patch; I get a black screen/hang after the opening DigitalTome animation, and GOG complains about a problem with the application's renderer. Problem only started after the patch was applied. Thoughts?

Edit: Seems that running it in windowed mode then fullscreen fixes the issue at least.

Hi,

some suggestions:
-when starting the siege.exe directly (not with Galaxy) you get a black screen and GoG "complains". You can start the game alternatively by directly executing Siege_unspezifische.exe Version.
-make sure that ForceD3DFullscreen=1 in siege.ini
-sometimes the game needs some time - ~10 seconds- to start (on win 10)

So if I got you right: you started the game windowed and now it works starting in fullscreen?

Yes, that's correct. The only thing is, I was launching it through Galaxy, and it was fully hanging the system prior to running it in Windowed; had to three-finger salute and sign out of my user profile to do anything. The other thing that I just noticed is, I can't seem to get the gender selection to work for the game;
