I have a single GTX 580 GPU with 1.5GB VRAM, 4GB DDR3 RAM and a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T with approx. 3.20 Ghz on its back. Everything, including OS, which is Windows 7 Pro x64, is up to date.

And yet this game lags, on medium to very high setting.
It just boggles my mind, that a UE game lags for me for the first time in AGES!

Either this game is horribly un-optimized or I have a problem with my PC.
I honestly thinks it's the first one.

PS: It also won't save my settings. Which I've seen many have the same problem.

Try this
Will do. I'm posting here again afterwards...
Yup, worked. Can play maxed out now :)
Yep, worked for me as well. Thanks for posting this.

Hope they get mouse smoothing toggles in the menus soon, I have no idea why games have it always on by default.

Edit: Nevermind, it helped very slightly... but not enough to be tolerable.

What kind framerate should one expect after those tweaks (bsmoothframerate etc)?

I have a Core 2 Quad Q9550 3.4GHz, Nvidia GTX 660 Ti, 8GB RAM, Win7 x64

Getting 40-50fps on low settings :/
I was wrong. It didn't help much at all... I give up.
Wake me when Interceptor has patched this mess of a game.

Well put. It's not every day you see a game run this poorly and look this awful, even though it's UE3 engine.

(But the soundtrack is smashing!)
Unfortunately, this did not noticeably help me. The game is playable, but there is no reason for it to run as poorly as it does.

According to @RiseoftheTriad they are working on optimization for the first patch. Hopefully it'll come soon.
I believe there was a post on the ROTT Twitter that stated that this is being looked into.

Or else I want my money back, seriously.
It is really configuration depending I have a phenom 6 core with a GeForce 660 which is worse then your pc on windows 8 and the game runs mostly smooth on max could probably get it smooth by disabling PhysX.
I never use PhysX even if I can, I just don't care for that little extra effect...

Have you seen what this "Little Effect" does? Google the video of Borderlands 2 with and without PhysX... that's no "little extra effect".
Of course I know what it does. I tried it with ROTT as well but who the hell stands around shooting concrete walls to dust anyway?
