Woobly textures that move around like crazy despite characters do not move is a typical sign of PS1 games because PS1 did not have z-buffer support.

Neither Resi 1 nor Resi 2 have such a problem. This was supposed to be a PC game, a PC version, so no wobbliness should have been present.

I really demand some answers from GOG, why the polygonal characters have wobbly textures!

It was supposed to happen in the original PC version

Oh my ..what a bummer....but why GOG did not fix it? There are many mods for the original game that have beautiful polygonal characters so it is definitely possible to do.... I hope GOG will address the problem :( :(

The answer is quite simple, the original PC release had these wobbly textures. Since this is a rerelease, that’s what we got.

This 'issue' seems to be fixable, but it's hard to know exactly why GOG couldn't. GOG mentioned that Capcom was quite strict about the changes to these rereleases.

I do not understand. Why would GOG could not fix issues? Why would not Capcom allow to make them better? Wtf is going on here...

I know that it can be annoying, but it's not exactly considered an issue. This was part of the game in the original ps1 release, the pc release and the dreamcast port. It could get fixed down the line, but I don't think it will.

it was a part of the PS1 version because there was no other way. PS1 did not support z-buffer, so z-cordinates were not supported natively. But this is PC and PC handles 3D graphics no problem. The original PC version suffers from it but because Capcom did not care about it back in the day. Not that it was a part of the gameplay. GOG should have fixed it!

Not just the original PC version had this problem. The Dreamcast, and SourceNext PC version had it too.

Where did GOG ever said that Capcom didn't let them fix certain things? That's BS. GOG were the ones who decided what they want to fix and what they don't. They were just simply lazy.

Oh boy, the "lazy" argument again.

The scope of these releases are to make the originals run on modern operating systems and computers. Not to improve them, and make them superior in every way.

I'd suggest to read the descriptions for the games in the GOG store.

There's only one issue here: Your expectations.

RE3 emulates the GPU and SPU of the PSX, so yes, it's basically high level emulation for graphics and part of the sound. It's no easy fix either because it involves rewriting a lot of code to support float transformations.

Shocker, there's a lot of assumption in your message.

Nowhere in my message I said that Capcom didn't let GOG fix things such as the topic of this discussion. My message was that it was hard to say exactly why they didn't change it, but that they did mention Capcom being strict about the changes for this rerelease. Why did I say this? because in the interview for Sphere Hunter, Bartosz Kwietniewski, the head of business development for GOG, said that Capcom challenged them multiple times for what they wanted to do with these games and that both parties had a lot of arguing since 2022.

We know that the approach for GOG is to keep the game as faithful to the original release as possible, so that's most likely the explanation. We also need to understand that the wobbly textures are not exactly an issue, it's just something that Capcom kept from the original ps1 release.

When did I said that I want them to be superior in every way? No other fixed camera survival horror game from the PS1 era has wobbly models on PC, so why is it acceptable for RE3 to be like that in a 2024 re-release? If the REbirth team could fix it, why can't GOG do it? Also, being able to go back to the main menu from the game isn't a big expectation either. I just want the game to function properly.

If thats so, why these re-releases support modern controllers? The originals did not support them. These versions also have improved graphics engine initialization, new rendering options, improved options dialog or issue-less task switching. So see?!! Tons of stuff were improved and thus you cannot say they are the same games. These GOG versions ARE improved and superior to the originals.

Why are you defending this poor product? Why wont you have it better?

The PC version of Resident Evil 3 was always emulated. That's why the wobbly models, and the lines with the textures happen in the first place. Some PS1 games with pre-rendered backgrounds when emulated on PC can have lines on the screen with certain settings like antialiasing. Resident Evil 3 needs more work to fuction properly without these problems.
