The game can crash during the Simbani initiation. You can also be stuck if you lose too many of the contests and don't help Yesufu. You can probably get to the wrestling bridge, and if you have lost all the other contests and didn't help Yesufu, you not only won't be able to win the competition, you also won't be able to win the game. Not helping Yesufu and losing the competition is an immediate game over.

Ah, then it is a saving issue.

Disabling EMS did help the crash that happens at the first one, at least in my experience, so hopefully that can be a help to others. I remember that ugly crash well.

I did a lot of testing in the Simbani ritual for the Fighter Any% route. Losing the Wrestling Bridge is always faster, but it is not ideal for real game play. You will always get the drum if you help Yesufu. You will never get it if you lose the Wrestling Bridge. The other two challenges did not really seem to matter. I won them both and lost the Wrestling and died. I lost the first two and won the Wrestling bridge and got the drum. It seems as though the Wrestling Bridge is the bottleneck, and if you save after not helping Yesufu, if your Agility is not high enough, you're done.

Zachski: Fun fact - the "Wooing" topic in QFG3 will completely crash ScummVM. You don't even get the "Can't speak your language", it just errors out.
This issue should get automatically patched in ScummVM.

Maybe you are using an older version of ScummVM. Try 1.8.0/1.8.1 or later.

We had already fixed it, but GOG uses fan-made patches, which made the original patch not work. Another on-the-fly patch for the GOG version was added by us on 17.2.2015.

Originally this issue was patched by us on 7.10.2012 and this patched worked for all the regular versions.
