Sarafan: I understand that the delay in publishing the remastered version of Quake on GOG generates emotions, but we have a general rule that insulting others, no matter whether it's an individual or a company, is not allowed. It's a violation of our CoC: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001814049-Forum-Code-of-Conduct?product=gog. Treat this as a kind warning and please refrain from doing so in the future. Thank you.
My bad. Should have known better before using the asterisked word. AmethystViper: At the risk of being labeled as a "Bethesda fanboy", but people seem to be forgetting that the Quake remaster is on multiple platforms, and as of recent developments, it's also on no less than four PC digital distribution platforms despite not being available on GOG and the Epic Games Store as of yet [...]
Precisely because it is already in 4 PC stores (and several other platforms), there shouldn't be any problem in bringing it here, unless something specific from GoG (don't know about epic, don't use it) is preventing them to do it quickly (either technical or economical). Also, the remaster is a project done with an engine wrote (AFAIK) by Nightdive and already released on other projects which are already on GoG. Is not like they took the original Quake source code and literally ported it to modern standards (As it was done with the Homeworld remaster, really interesting article if you are into that).
And is great and all that they are updating the product we don't own yet (as every other single decent developer do nowadays), but the bottom line remains in that we, on GoG, only have received a "coming soon" and after that radio silence.
Anyway, as I want to end this message in something cool, just play Alkaline and Alkaline Jam to kill time while we wait for, well, anything. Is probably going to be the highlight of the year regarding Quake for most of us here:
EDIT: I can't make work the url tags, so whatever:
