Nevermind, it's works now. I had to download a cracked version of PoP.exe even though I own the game.

Could you please kindly provide us the link for the 1680X1050 pop.exe?~
Thanks you and warm regards.
You're not going to find links to cracked exes on here.
I just ran this great little patch and it worked a treat. Windows 7 x64 at 1920x1080.
Just remember to run UniWS as administrator.

I don't think this has been discussed here, if so, I must apologize. I am 68 and recently went blind in one eye and have a problem with the colors here and the font size.
I was doing fine with the game until last night. I had some sort of hiccup on the computer last night and the screen/game "bounced" and said something like 'did I want to load in a safe mode and like a dummy, I said yes. Now, I do not have a full screen view.
The game still plays fine. I am using a wireless XBox controller setup with Xpadder. I played the game years ago and am really enjoying it again, but am irritated at the huge black border I now have around the screen.
I did a reboot and used F8 and picked normal load. Unfortuntely, I cannot recapture the full screen view and play I had before.
Any ideas?

Wait did you say that you could run the game in Safe Mode? This is quite odd since the video drivers don't get loaded (only the bare minimum not the ATI or Nvidia drivers I mean).
What I understand is that you now have a small screen in the center of your monitor which doesn't fill the whole monitor?
This would mean that the game is not actually running at your native resolution and that "no scaling" instead of "scaling with fixed aspect ratio" or "full panel scaling" is used.
2 ways to fix this: either you change the game resolution through the option to your native resolution or go into the Control Panel of your video card (for Nvidia you will find it in your Control Panel, for ATI usually by right-clicking your desktop and selecting "Catalyst Control Center") and set your screen scaling: Nvidia under "Change flat panel scaling" ["Use Nvidia scaling" "Use Nvidia Scaling with fixed aspect ratio" or "Use my displays built-in scaling"], ATI it seems you can find it in different places depending on your driver version: in v10.4 (advanced mode) you find it under pop-up menu "Graphics" > "Desktop & Displays" > right-click on the flat panel icon (bottom-left) > "Configure..." > Under Tab Attributes you will see the section "Image Scaling" there you can radio check either "Maintain aspect ratio" or "Scale image to full panel size".
Ok I just checked in earlier catalyst versions you might have have a panel on your left hand side where you can collapse/expand "stuff". Expand your primary Panel and select "Attrributes" there you will find these options too.
If I didn't fully understand your problem then posting your system specifications might be helpful (especially your video card vendor and driver version).
I'm not sure I have a solution to your color problem but maybe you can adjust some color settings in your video card control panel. Is the font too small?
Hope that helps.

Thank you Pops, that seemed to do the trick. I have Nvidia 9600M GT as a graphics card. I went in there and changed a setting checked the game and it was fine. But one of my regular sites to visit looked awful. I changed it back, and checked the game, and it was still fine! I guess something somewhere just needed a wakeup call.
Yes, the font here at GOG is very tiny. I can fix that by using the control key and the mouse wheel. But because of the pale gray font color and medium gray background, there isn't much contrast, so it's hard on me. Well, it doesn't help that I have a funky eye that has just enough vision to mess things up. What little I do see is distorted and at an angle giving me double vision. When I am doing detail work, like working on graphics, I often have to patch it. One good discovery was finding out that I do much better with PC games than platform games with this new eye problem. The further away from me things are, the more distortion I get. Life sure can interfere with us serious gamers sometimes! I've had three surgeries on the eye, trying to safe the sight. Right now, I have a band around the eyeball and it's full of silicon oil. Blech! LOL. What happened was the retina detached. Three times! Well, this has nothing to do with gaming. But I wanted to answer your query about why the board is hard to see.
I have a website that has quite a few older folks on it, and they love it because I use a larger font. Heck, even the younger members say they like the larger font.
Thank you so much for your help. I was getting really grouchy with that black border.
P.S. I just found an option in my settings to change the site colors for me. Yippee!!!

Very sorry to hear that, I can be thankful to not be bothered by such issues (yet!)

Indeed I was going to suggest to use the other color scheme located just under the main control bar at the top. To remedy the text size I know for a fact that in Firefox your can enable Text only zoom ("View" > "Zoom" > "Zoom text only") and then press Ctrl++ (Zoom in) or Ctrl-- (Zoomout) to adjust the size.
There should be similar commands in other web browsers but you might surely be already aware of that.
I don't use Firefox, Pops. I do a lot with graphics and I found out over the last almost five years that FF isn't as graphic friendly as IE. Don't know about Windows 7 yet, I've only had it a few weeks. I teach how to use Paint Shop Pro on a friend's website, and you'd be surprised how many people experience funky graphics using FireFox.
By the Way, if you'd like to visit my stomping grounds, it's called Hootyowl. I have just a small number of people as members, but from all over the world... Norway, Australia, Canada, France and the US. Just type in hootyowl in google and I'm the first one up. The members range from early 40s to early 70s. I'm 68, going on 25.
Tonight, I moved on over to Xpadder to see if the creator could help with my annoying problem of not being able to run quickly with the left stick. We'll see.
I've enjoyed chatting with you. I'm sure we will meet again. I love the older games, and being able to play them on a pc is a bonus for me now that my vision is messed up. See you on the forum. JJ

I don't get what you mean, firefox is more respecting of web standards than IE. Opera and Chrome are the best when it comes to those. IE has been behind the times since it first appeared though, so I'm naturally inclined to go with alternatives.

Any topics on particular? Or it's just a place for people to meet and exchange stories?
Intriguing...

Always a pleasure.
Hey guys! I was able to run the game using WSUNI at 1280 X 800 but the life bar is hidden behind the black lines at the top. Also, the game runs, in some parts, in slow motion. I know my graphics card is capable of running the game at better FPS.

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks!
The link to UniWS in the first page of this thread isn't working anymore, the current one is:

Thanks for sharing that link. It looks like a handy utility, although I would hardly call support for 12 games "universal."

That link isn't working, just gives a 404

This one seems to work (at the moment)

I'm trying to patch Warrior Within, but it doesn't seem to recognize it. I noticed that it requires a cracked exe. Does the GOG version counts?
Hey maybe one of you guys knows the solution to this.

I downloaded PoP: Warrior Within via Galaxy and tried to apply the widescreen patch but it doesn't show me the pop2.exe. When I go to the folder it is right there in the root of Warrior Within but when I open the same folder in the Universal widescreen patcher it doesn't display it. As it is on my second drive find me would talk ages ( if it wouldn't crash all the time). so does anyone know a work around?
