JustJJ: I don't think this has been discussed here, if so, I must apologize. I am 68 and recently went blind in one eye and have a problem with the colors here and the font size.
I was doing fine with the game until last night. I had some sort of hiccup on the computer last night and the screen/game "bounced" and said something like 'did I want to load in a safe mode and like a dummy, I said yes. Now, I do not have a full screen view.
The game still plays fine. I am using a wireless XBox controller setup with Xpadder. I played the game years ago and am really enjoying it again, but am irritated at the huge black border I now have around the screen.
I did a reboot and used F8 and picked normal load. Unfortuntely, I cannot recapture the full screen view and play I had before.
Any ideas?
Wait did you say that you could run the game in Safe Mode? This is quite odd since the video drivers don't get loaded (only the bare minimum not the ATI or Nvidia drivers I mean).
What I understand is that you now have a small screen in the center of your monitor which doesn't fill the whole monitor?
This would mean that the game is not actually running at your native resolution and that "no scaling" instead of "scaling with fixed aspect ratio" or "full panel scaling" is used.
2 ways to fix this: either you change the game resolution through the option to your native resolution or go into the Control Panel of your video card (for Nvidia you will find it in your Control Panel, for ATI usually by right-clicking your desktop and selecting "Catalyst Control Center") and set your screen scaling: Nvidia under "Change flat panel scaling" ["Use Nvidia scaling" "Use Nvidia Scaling with fixed aspect ratio" or "Use my displays built-in scaling"], ATI it seems you can find it in different places depending on your driver version: in v10.4 (advanced mode) you find it under pop-up menu "Graphics" > "Desktop & Displays" > right-click on the flat panel icon (bottom-left) > "Configure..." > Under Tab Attributes you will see the section "Image Scaling" there you can radio check either "Maintain aspect ratio" or "Scale image to full panel size".
Ok I just checked in earlier catalyst versions you might have have a panel on your left hand side where you can collapse/expand "stuff". Expand your primary Panel and select "Attrributes" there you will find these options too.
If I didn't fully understand your problem then posting your system specifications might be helpful (especially your video card vendor and driver version).
I'm not sure I have a solution to your color problem but maybe you can adjust some color settings in your video card control panel. Is the font too small?
Hope that helps.
