bought postal 1 on gog, can't turn left, i would like to try the left turn fix but the link to it seems dead. Using Windows 7 64 bit.
I have the same problem, I have to keep pressing left repeatedly just to move the dude a little bit. Its not that big of a problem, but it is very annoying

Has anyone found a fix for this yet? Mouse control is fine, but keyboard or joystick fail.

Wow, yeah. Left arrow key just won't function. I mean, I can set it as the "Turn Left" key in the Controls menu, but it won't work in the game.
I tried the remap hotfix on Win7 x64 and it's a no go. It actually disabled turning left altogether. Running vanilla I can tap left repeatedly to turn left but this is still unplayable. The mouse will only rotate right and at a wild rate of speed. I created a WinXP VM and had the same problem.
I read here, http://www.justgamesretro.com/PC/postalplus.html, that even running a VM with Win98 would't fix the problem. He didn't say which VM software he used so I'm going to try it and see if it works. I'm using VirtualBox to create my VM's btw.
I can't run the hotfix, i get an error:

PostalRemap.exe

Error at line 313.

Line Text: '::LButtonAssign()
Error: Invalid hotkey.

The program will exit.

pls help me...
i'm using windows 7 64 bit ultimate...

Firstly, if you look around for this issue in the forums you'll see that this isn't an issue with GOG's version of the game, but is in fact an issue with the very game itself. It affects the original version from Running With Scissors and they have said that they cannot fix it without a massive amount of work, which won't be done because the game is now very old. The issue affects XP, Vista and 7 as far as I know.

Plus, the mouse to turn is working fine.

Now, I've played through the entire game with mouse and keyboard and it is fine. It takes a little bit of time to get used to but it works. Therefore, the game is definitely playable.

Also, even though GOG didn't need to, they have made their own launcher for the game that helps to lessen the issue. It doesn't fix it for everyone and for those that it does work it isn't always 100%, but it is something.

Oh really?? Thanks for typing all that it's really nice to read stuff i already know.

"Firstly" i have looked around the forums, so thanks again for your time it really isn't appreciated. It's broken, stop trying to defend something that is clearly in the wrong, it has something faulty wrong with it, it should be pointed out so people know before buying.

No the mouse doesn't work fine, it moves around all fast as hell, and even turning the speeds down it still turns like he's hyper.

Yes, gog did need to. If they're going to resell a game they should bring out a launcher that fixes it, and if they can't fix it there should be some sort of known bug section shown before purchasing so people who find that it may hinder there gameplay a great deal can decide wiether they want to pay or not, at lest there given a choice.

Now get your brown nose out my line of view it's distracting.

If you already knew this stuff then why post about it?

GOG make the games work on XP, Vista and 7. However, they don't have the source code so they cannot make physical changes to the game code. If a game has a problem that is part of the game itself (as Running With Scissors have confirmed is the case for Postal 1) then it is reliant on the game developer to provide a fix. For such an old game that isn't likely to happen. GOG did their part to make the game load on modern OSes, and they've even tried to make a launcher for it (http://files.gog.com/support/PostalRemap.zip).

Also, GOG do state in the game's support articles that it is a known issue and this also provides a link to their hotfix launcher.

Have a nice day.
I am PISSED. I am having all the same problems as you all and WONDERING WHY I paid hard cash for a game that either has always been broken (Isn't it easy to blame the manufacturer?) or is just too old to run.
Either way I feel cheated. I'm still waiting to hear back, to have a little fun blasting some computer icons without having to waste a few hours on reviewsites trying to find real info about a game I've never played, but heard a lot about
I'm getting the same thing even after the hotfix. Tried a controller, screwing with the mouse settings and its just impossible to control.
Yeah same problem here, the mouse seems to be the only way around this but its not very playable. I have installed this on a couple different computers now and im having the same problem on all of them, im pretty sure anyone who purchases this game at this point is going to have this problem.
Here is a fixed .exe that will put it right.

Unzip into your install folder and overwrite the old one. This will also stop the dead NPC's doing a 360 spin when they die. Sorry for this problem you guys have had, I'll get the base game on gog.com replaced and also a proper hotfix installer worked out.
