Malek: As with grege89 the install is manual, no Galaxy involved. And the game worked fine earlier today before 3.01 was applied
Saves loaded fine for me, I checked both English and Polish.

So the good news - they aren't corrupted by 3.01, bad news - apparently something is wrong with the patch when it's applied to an older version.

Do you remember which GOG build you have initially downloaded? I assume it wasn't 2.7.0.13 but an older one.

EDIT:
==========
for anyone experiencing loading bug after patching, please open a Support ticket with the following info, if possible:
- what build number have you initially installed, what patches have been used, have you installed DLCs, in which order;
- if you have the White March, do the icons in Main Menu show properly as 'installed'
- is it offline of Galaxy build and which OS;

We'll look into it but first we need to somehow reproduce the problem.

For those who don't want to wait, clean reinstall* of newest build (2.8.0.14) should fix the problem
* backup your saves, uninstall everything, delete PoE folder if it remained and install fresh build

I realize it's terribly inconvenient but it's the fastest solution until people are back in the office during normal working hours (it's already after midnight here)

In my case, I believe the install history prior to 3.01 was:

PoE 2.6.0.12 -> WM1 2.2.0.12 -> PoE patch 2.7.0.13 -> WM1 patch 2.7.0.13 -> WM2 2.7.0.13

Thiev: - installed PoE 3.0, WM1 3.0, WM2 3.0
- started a new game, made a save
- applied patches: PoE 3.01, WM1 3.01, WM2 3.02
I don't see any patches for WM1 3.01 and WM2 3.01 on my download page (for Linux).

Do I have do download the full installers for both White March expansions again? :(

This patch installed correctly for me, but then I ran into the problems experienced by others above: loading any save would cause a crash to desktop.

Obsidian patch order:
2.03 (full game) -> 3.00 (patch - plays fine) -> 3.01 (patch - crash to desktop on loading save)

GOG patch order:
2.6.0.12 (full game)-> 2.7.0.13 (patch - plays fine) -> 2.8.0.14 (patch - crash to desktop on loading save)

The solution...well you aren't going to like the solution.

Download game again already patched to 3.0.1. Now the saves work fine, so it seems at least they weren't corrupted during the update.

Horrible solution, though not entirely unexpected with all the problems with patches I had on another game (Divinity Original Sin).

Edit: that wasn't a poke at GOG (just in case it sounded like it), I know the patches are for the most part the developers responsibility. This game does the game play things pretty well, but it seems the QA on new patches isn't up to scratch. I like version 3.0 over 2.03 (mostly for the expanded tool tips), but I do hope they look into the poor optimization problems that cause even the latest and greatest machines to fall to their knees screaming.

Going by the files I have saved it seems my installation was (using GoG numbers):
2.6.0.12 (base game, clean reinstall after I had some issues after wrong patching before) -> 2.2.0.12 (WMp1 again reinstall) -> 2.7.0.13 (patch base game then WMp1 to 3.0, then install WMp2) -> 2.8.0.14 (3.01 patches in order base, WMp1, WMp2)

hotfix is now up:

Can confirm it worked. The first load after applying was quite long but after that it seems to load faster - guess it was updating saves or something. Thanks.

Saves were untouched, I guess it was caching / recalculating assets.
Anyway, glad to hear it worked.

Wryeman: anybody having issues with loading saves after applying this patch?

Thiev: did you patch base game & white march both?
Is there supposed to be three patches for Linux as well? I can only see one, and after the update my WM companions are bugged (won't move, and no animations), and all WM areas I have visited are pink, and only pink (I suspect all WM areas are pink).

From what I was told by Linux team, patch was issued only for the base game and DLCs received new installers.

So I have to re-download and reinstall the DLCs to update them? Slightly annoying, but doable. Will try that and hopefully the bugs go away.

EDIT: downloading and reinstalling the two DLCs fixed the issues.

I have the same question. I have installed the 3.01 Patch for the main game than I realized that the whit march parts have a new version number too. But when I want to download theses Installers i saw that there are the same names I allready downloaded as they were version 3.0

gog_pillars_of_eternity_white_march_part_1_dlc_2.5.0.7.sh
gog_pillars_of_eternity_white_march_part_2_dlc_2.1.0.2.sh

I am confused how to update..... nowadays it is terrible with patches....since 5 or 6 years: every game had an autoupdater ingame....I think that is history now ;)
