Macos10: You have the first patch and it works, I explained to you how to install it, then you post you have no first patch.

I give up, SIGH!
avatar
mlktst: It's okay, comprehension can be difficult.

So, fuch it, just going to go ahead and delete 13GB of current files & re-download the 8GB installer, because GOG can't package an 80MB patch to save their arse.
It's not their fault you decided to delete all the downloaded game files once installed, that was your choice, I store all my GoG downloaded game files on a spare drive to avoid this very problem you have caused yourself.

Think you best look at your own actions before swearing at others.

Stop being daft. They botched the patch and there's no other way around it.

kmh12177: Ok, checked to make sure .....

Yes.

From Nexus:

iemod- 1.0.3.0526-windows-4.6b

my main game title screen now says:

v1.0.3.0526 -IEMod 4.6b

I have the GOG version game, and the GOG 81mb patch only.

Working just fine.

Granted, I am only in Gilded Vale right now as I just started a new playthrough. But everything is working.

maramot: Now I see what you mean. You've patched the game to 524 and applied the IE mod dll file. Yeah, I guess it works for you because you're near the beginning. As soon as I try to load a game with the IE mod applied over 524 I get an error message and a CTD :)
Ah ok.

I uninstalled and re-installed from scratch when the patch came out because I wanted to restart anyway.

I fresh installed GOG version, then patch, then newest IE mod.

I never tried (or planned) on trying to load an old save with it.

That sounds like the issue here between our successes on it working or not.

PTouch: I, too, experienced the bug that my rogue could not open any chests anymore after installing the gog 1.03 patch. I solved the issue by installing the Nexus IE mod for version 1.0.3.0526 (though my game was *.0524).
just replaced the Assembly-CSharp.dll and everything works fine for me now.

TearsOfWar1: Thanks you for leaving this helpful comment. Now I can play the game with as much bugs AND have my custom lock-picker pick locks and disable traps again. She is a Monk. XD
Since GoG is not releasing the Hotfix, tested this and works fine.
But make sure to backup the original files, and restore them before the next "patch". May get errors if you dont .
I'm not going to buy new release games on GOG anymore. The current patch is useless for 90% of the people because it doesn't include the hotfix for opening locked containers. Please get this sorted asap.

It's not useless to most people. The only bug fixed in the hotfix is the one where hired companions can't use mechanics correctly. So unless you've hired a companion that you also use as your prime mechanics go to character, you don't need the hotfix at all.

I would say its useless to 10% of people because most of us play with the standard party members, of course if you are not happy with how GOG deal with patches then it is probably best that you go to a competitor, after all its what you feel is best for you at the end of the day.

Exactly. I've had NO problems at all besides I promise you all that you WONT die if it takes a few more days to get the hotfix out. Keep seeing posts stating that gog isn't going to release the hotfix which is just pure and ridiculous conjecture. It's a holiday over there so chill everyone. I get it can be frustrating for some but I didn't start this thread as a place to show your "hate" or a place to "whine". Have a little patience and a bit of faith. It'll all work out. Besides there are way too many real problems in life to worry about. This really doesn't rank that high compared to homelessness, children starving, crime, taxes or the price of beer.

Sadly true, I would love to buy new games from GoG, games that still recieve patches continually but it kind of sucks as it is right now. Taking some time is fine but I'd like to have at least more insight about their process. A simple notification that things are in progress and that the patch will be done within the next hours/days/weeks/whenever would do a lot for me.

Otherwise I'll just keep buying old games only here :/

So anyone who wants a rogue in their party is screwed unless they use it as their main character. Because there are no rogue companions. And anyone who adds a rogue to their party is going to use that as their main mechanic skill user. Or anyone who likes to mix it up and use hirelings to supplement or make up their party is at a much greater risk of being in that group of players. I'm pretty sure its much more than 10%.

The reason I say 10% is because MOST people will work around it or have enough patience to wait and not make out its a life threatening issue by constantly whinging on this forum, like I have said if you are not happy go to another site and buy your games there in future.

Thanks for agreeing with my original point, which is exactly what I posted. Was that so hard?

Mechanics can be taken by any character, not just rogues. Rogues in PoE are not the same as D&D stereotypes.

You will get a companion relatively early on that has points already put into mechanics that is well set to be your chest opener.

And how hard would a little patience be? There is no point discussing this with people like you as you would find fault with perfection.

My point is that anyone who wants a rogue in their party for their combat prowess and style are most likely going to make them the primary mechanics skill character. They have the best bonuses, its just common sense.
