I am running a netbook with Windows 7. I am getting the following message after installation.
"The program can't start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
Tried reinstalling - no joy. Any ideas?

lancescott70: This issue is in no way solved no matter what anyone says. I have tried all the suggested fixes, from here and from GOG, and the game still won't run. For me the game locks up as soon as I click on the play campaign or play scenario buttons. The only thing I can do at that point is start task manager and shut down the application. Keyboard does not respond and mouse will not work in game window. Great job on this one GOG what a rip off.
Windows 7 user here. I had the same problem. When you right-click PANZER2.exe, under the compatibility tab, there is an option to run in 640x480 resolution. Check it, and you're good to go. (I also deactivated visual designs, and I run it as administrator.
