I'm not sure whether this might help or not but if you've got a system which uses that pain-in-the-neck piece of Nvidia technology called Optimus it SEEMS to be the most recent Nvidia drivers which cause you to no longer have privileges to change the GPU by right-clicking on the game desktop icon, because I never used to have a problem manually selecting my GPU. I may be wrong here but in any case I can't be bothered to check because I have my system set up to use my Nvidia card by default in the Global settings in the Nvidia control panel and I'm not prepared to change this every time just in order to get one game to run. It's seems like yet another example of the computer industry working in disharmony and at cross purposes, with the only loser being the end user.

Same here - black screen, game sounds, flicker.
Looks like the issue is well known.
I wonder if GOG will ever bother to make this actually work out of the box.

Do know that GOG is fully DRM-free, though, and you can try Nox on any machine you own, to see if it works.

Anyway, if anyone has an idea on how to fix this please post. Thank you very much in advance.

I have the same problem you meet when running Nox.
I solved the problem by stopping one of two graphic card.
Your top-level laptop has two graphic card.
One is Intel integrated, and the other is nVidia/AMD/ATI.
Enter the control panel and select the section of video card.
Let nVidia/AMD/ATI be out of function, and then set the compatibility to Win98.
Sorry that I can't show the pictures because that's T-Chinese version Win 7 64-bit.
FYI
Tell me if you still have question.

It worked for me (except the intro) on my laptop with NVIDIA 520M chip until I downloaded and installed the latest NVIDIA driver (335.23) - the game flickered awfully. So I uninstalled the driver and let Windows install its own driver as before. Now it seems to be ok again, except some little glitches like mouse pointer disappearing once in a while.
On the other systems (desktop PC with Windows 7 64bit and Windows 8.1 64bit and older NVIDIA GTS250 card) there are no problems at all.

Nox Work on Windows 7 X64 but with limitations. Here are all Commandlines (taking frmm the Game.exe via Hex)
-serveronly
-sleep
-drop
-notext
-nolog
-lock
-safe
-noaudio
-noMMX
-nothread
-vol
-noFloor
-noDraw
-port
-clientport
-nosoft
-window (Take the Current Desktop Screen Size, Game scaled to this, Required 16Bit Desktop)
-swindow (Window Mode)
-minimize
I run this via "Nox.exe -window -noMMX -nothread". Set Desktop to 16Bit ,1024x768. CPU Affinity to 1
(I Use LH.Game(Start,i), this make Automatic for me, Set the Game Settings and Restore my Window
Settings. The Movies doesnt Work in -window/-swindow. There are only works if Direct2D/DirectDraw
Acceleration is on and or The Game run in Fullscreen. Disable Direct3D Acceleration has no effect.
Running on W7 x64 Ultimate /16GB/ GTX970/ AMDFX8350

I play most of my games on my android devices via Dosbox Turbo. This game sounds good but I won't play it much if it is made to only run on a PC. Nox also came out for DOS. I've used a lot of other GOG/DOS games on my phone & tab. I just copy the game and paste it in a new directory and install it in Dosbox Turbo.
Does anyone know if this version started off in DOS or is it the original Win version?

I've got i7 with integrated HD4000 - Windows 8 64 bit.
I would like to tell all of you how I made that Nox worked for me.
In the installation folder you've got Game.exe file. Right click and use my setting which you can see in attachment image.
You must run Nox from Game.exe not from desktop icon!

I was able to get NOX to run completing the following:
Tested under Windows 7, 8.1, 10 x64 Platforms
*This is just an FYI for anyone experiencing issues with flickering or un-viewable videos and menus*
1. Locate NOX.exe from the GOG default installation directory
2. Right Click Modify - Compatibility Tab
a. Select 'Change Settings for All Users'
b. Change 'Run this in Compatibility Mode': Windows 98/ME
c. Reduced Color Mode: 16-bit
3. Apply and OK
Recommended as well is to disable Virtual Super Resolution (AMD) or Supersampling DSR (nVidia):

@Skylancer,
You can also just run NoX normally while using the SDL patch: http://server1.awesie.org/NoxGUI_beta13.zip
This fixes modern graphics card compatibility.

I, too, had a black screen on starting the game and could not navigate the menu after the intro videos (Win 7 64-bit). However, from what I can tell, this seems to be a problem only with the version distributed via the GOG Galaxy client. The client seems to provide users with a different version of the game entirely, since the Solo Quest mode (free DLC back in the day) also needs to be additionally patched in. This is not the case with regular install.
Try downloading the installer with your web browser and installing Nox from that file if you have problems after installing with GOG Galaxy.
