Pretty much what I do now..

Although I have what I consider a good looking ship, and it's fully upgraded to my liking,
I'm still keeping an eye out / checking out crashed ships for that one, perfect ship.

I am impressed by the huge variety of ships- there`s definitely a sort of dynamic thing going on with those desgns.

I should have done that, taken a shot of each one. I don't remember them all.

It is. If you look at the shapes and sizes of the ships you can see recurring parts such as engines, wings or noses of the ships. I guess the developers have created numbers of every part of a ship and then they choose an algorithm to create it.
This my latest, it's not a boxy cargo ship anymore.

Finally found a better looking ship, but wanted to empty my cargo space before taking, so carefully back-tracked to a port and sold my stuff, went straight back to the crashed ship spot- And could I find it? Nope.

It`s at times like this I could really use a map marker.

If you encounter a better ship than your current you should do the following:

Land close to the crashed ship and take a view from the far. Don't go to close to it since once you approach the crash site the marker disappears. No need to worry, even being a little bit away from the wreck you will see enough to make your decision if you want to switch your vessel or not.

If you want to do so just go back to your current ship, empty your cargo at the space station and come back to marker which should be still there.

I`ll remember that for next time. Unfortunately, a bit late for me. Saw a ship I really liked the look of in a Starbase and had enough credits to buy it, so I did. thanks for the advice anyway.

Toigautagi S85 Technically my 3rd ship after the starter Pea-Shooter and Bugged DLC Ship. Been flying it ever since I picked it up. Love the bi-directional wings, has great combat and 24 slots to boot.

While I`ve noticed that ship designs appear to have no effect on your performance or dogfighting abilities it does have an effect on what you can see. I have a new ship: I call her The Fussy, like my ex-wife.

And the viewing area is SO much better, I can look really far left\right. In my previous ship I could barely do this, I thought it was just crappy gameplay design, but it matters which ship you get if you like a good view and situational awareness around you.

I know I`m 50+ hours as well. I like it too. I don`t even think about going to the centre. It`s one of those games that even going to the centre won`t be the end un less you want it to be.

I have 100 hours, so I must like the game. I know there is a lot features that didn't make it into the game. I watched a few reviews that point out exactly what was promised and remembered most of the features that were supposed to be in the game. I can see it's a lot less than was promoted, but I have been still doing things. Looking for ships took up a tons of hours. I just completed the Atlas Path, and am glad I got a good ship first. Now I still want to explore. The game has some kind of appeal to me, because I keep coming back despite it's short comings. I am in the hope they make more content camp.

As for finding ships, it took me quite a while, and some You Tube videos, to figure out how to find crashed ships consistently. It's way better than trying to grind out the cash to buy them, since you get nothing for your old ship. A process that IMO should be changed into a trading process, or going to a ship dealer, would make more immersive.
