Well, that can at least teach us not to pre-order games from developers no one ever heard of before.
I'm not giving Sean Murray and his fishy little studio Hello Games another dime ever again.

Are you not the moron that kept crying he canceled his pre order?
Now saying you did preorder?

Make up your mind.
No.

I'm going to give these devs 48 hours to fix this issue so I can actually start the fucking game, if not I'll give the game a negative review - regardless of the quality of lack thereof of the actual game.
I wonder if you (most/all of you in this thread) are aware that you are perhaps 3% (generous estimate) of all the users of NMS?

"This game sucks"
"This game does not run" and everything in between misses "... on my machine!".

So how about fixing things in the right order (PC version)?

Have fun...

Laggers: Learn to read my friend. Nowhere in their ToS says that you have to wait 30 days. It says you have to contact support in 30 days from purchase, after that if GoG cannot fix it (which they can't since they told people to simply "wait for the patch") they will refund it. Waiting is not offering a solution to a problem. Therefore, if they cannot do anything else but tell you to wait they should refund the money.
I'm fairly certain you are wrong...I think they'll ask you to stick around for 30 days, period, because GOG's warranty is not a "satisfaction" warranty at all--it is a tech-support warranty, only. It clearly states that "if we cannot get the game to run on your system" (or close to that, anyway.) Actually, the way you interpret it above means that GOG can take an indefinite period to try and get the game to run on your hardware, so long as you inform them it won't run within 30 days of purchase--which I don't think is what you meant to say at all. Yes, they will refund your money after you wait 30 days after notifying them that you cannot run the game--I see nothing unfair about that at all. That's the way it looks to me. If the game won't run then who is going to wait to notify GOG even one day after purchase? I wouldn't.

You are looking at this backwards...this will not by any means be the first game to cause a lot problems for people on launch day, and the great thing about GOG is that they are willing to work with people on an individual basis to try and get the game (whatever it might be) to run on your hardware. You *will* be refunded, no doubt, if the developers do not give GOG the patches needed to get the game running on your system--again, GOG is not the game developer--only the distributor. GOG does not do and is not responsible for game patches, etc. Same with Steam. That should be common knowledge for everyone by now. Expecting GOG to "fix" newly release games is like walking into a Gamestop store in a mall somewhere and demanding they patch the game you bought from them...;) Not gonna' happen for obvious reasons.

Precisely. The sooner the lesson is learned, the better. It's a caveat emptor world, my friend.

What is the issue? I am running it on Win 10 Nvidia 960 for hours. Know when the game first starts you need to press and hold down 'E' when it says 'initialise' - that is preventing some people from getting it to work.

I've been playing for some time and very satisfied with the game, the goals, the sheer beauty of it. I've even figured out how to make screenshots (see other thread on GOG).

Stop being a typical gamer jerk.

The complaints on PC are NOT isolated and not some vocal minority there are major issues with the PC version of this game. There is youtube video of a stream by the know using and i7 6700K with a GTX 1070 with 16 gigs DDR4 rams and they were having really bad frame rate issues. What you going to sit there and say their system is crap or that they manufactured the problem? That there are no issues?

This game appears to have huge performance issues, while SOME players have 'magic' pc configurations that let them play at 60 fps. Assuming the people claiming the perfect performance are not trolling/lying because they are trying to defend the game due to fandom, we can garner that they have a pc configuration that makes the game run but other people with better hardware have really crappy performance because their configurations are not the "magic" few.

Just because your experience is different doesn't negate someone else's. This is typical gamer BS to try and use your experience to somehow negate my experience. It is like you visiting me in the hospital and I say I had a heart attack and you try to negate my personal experience by say "What's the problem? my heart's fine." Who the frak cares if your heart is fine!?!? That still doesn't negate that I had a heart attack.

This isn't some isolated issue either it is very common for PC gamers with NMS, and if you experience these issues the game isn't playable and should be refunded. this goes beyond the content of the game and whether you like or dislike survival crafting genre games but rather goes into technical issue that create an environment that makes the game unplayable for them. If the game works for you then I say ENJOY and be thankful that you are not like me I want to be able to play this game but it simply is a stutter mess and I am angry that Hello games released the game in this state because I am not the only one and people with more powerful systems are experiencing the same issues as myself.

Hmm, I didn't mean to be a 'gamer jerk' I am hardly even a gamer - this is the first game I've played in years (I am 48, in gamer years, i am probably considered 98). I built this this PC specifically for this game in anticipation of the very high specs it needs.

Without knowing exactly what the issues are, it is hard to trouble shoot - it is what I have done for a living in the past, and maybe I am more of a 'troubleshooter jerk' because I like to solve problems. :)

This one wasn't easy for me at first either, but I kind of expected it. I downgraded my video driver which resolved much of the stutter your are describing and the 'E' initialization issue had me stumped for a while before I figured it out - with the assistance of fine people like you helping out in forums like this one.

I am sorry you are having issues with the game even though you are up to spec, and I agree, if you can't get it to working without spending hours on it or more $$$ to your system re configuring it, I'd be trying to get my money back as well. Truly a bummer deal though, all the way around as I wish it would work for everyone.

I was trying to be helpful and I apologize if I came off as a jerk.

Your response tells me you are an A$$HOLE. First you act like hey whats the problem like anyone experiencing issues is at fault then you givethis long list of hoops you jumped through one of which is downgrading your video driver. WTF so your solution to play the game is to make it so other games have issues and you have to ask and I quote. "What is the issue?"

Even your apology is not sincere as you are acting like well IF i came off as a jerk then i am sorry. As if you didn't intend to be an A$SHAT with your press the E button comment. Don't BS me with that was legit help on your part.

You were a Jerk and you Knew you were being a Jerk and you know damn well that this issue isn't because people have crap computers or crap at trouble shooting this game was and is the problem it should never have been released to the PC market in such a state. In short you were acting like a typical gamer jerk.

It is... I just had moron tell me refunded cause he booted game up got to intialize screen it just sat there...

Another dippo tell me "system requirements are optional"

another moron that "ya their graphic card doesn't meet min requirements but it should still run"

Another post a kid didn't update his OS

others don't upgrade their video card drivers... others likely have virus

IT IS YOUR FAULT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

You know totalretard?
Errr totalbiscuit ... his problem is his computer can't handle it...

He set everything low settings than delete cache and than start up game again
Which saves the cache as LOW SETTINGS and than he set it high...

In other words his computer runs it good at low settings but not high.

99.9% of problems is the person

I am sorry you feel that way. I realized early on that your machine is up to spec and there is likely some other issue. You wouldn't be the first one to have a game where you have the specs correct, yet it doesn't work. The pressing the E key wasn't just to you (I have honestly no idea what your technical issue is as, obviously I don't know enough about your configuration problems to begin to troubleshoot), but to others, as I had that issue myself and had troubles with it the first hour. I can get the game to work without the driver downgrade, but the frame rate suffers a bit - but that could be my imagination - I downgrade also so I can mine. I have a shortcuts so I can easily switch between graphic drivers fast; I am not a gamer most of the time, so you are right, I don't know your perspective that well on the drivers downgrading affecting other games, sorry. Previously when I did game support about 90% of the time the issue was in graphic drivers, but that was about 15 years ago and your issue can be completely different of course. Again, I am sorry you can't get the game working. I've been in similar situations where I had the same trouble, not only in games but other applications (I am an applications developer) and it is frustrating. I wish you the best though and hope you can get your money back.

Sincerely yours, the gamer jerk, a$$hate or whatever you want to call me next. Maybe the one caveat you can take from this is to be the antithesis of me and you'll be a good person in life, if that helps you feel better post venting, at least I've served some purpose.
Some people are having real problems on systems the same spec or better than mine.
These are real problems.
Sometime I wonder if its a driver issue though seeing as this game is openGL only.

I did nothing to my system and it runs smooth. I do have latest Geforce drivers with latest openGL.
I'm not trying to run at over 60fps,I leave forced vsync.

I watched a stream last night and it was shockingly bad.. terrible stutter and pauses.
Something is definatly wrong and I do hope the devs can fix the problem.
IT seems they didnt test the game on enough systems

Right he is running a 1080 and his computer can't handle it? you are so full of it. What system is suppose to be able to run the game on high? A non existent 1180? You have a narrative that you want to spread why I am not sure but you are trying to frame a FALSE narrative that if you are having problems it is your fault.

This is just rabid fandom at its worse I will attack and lie and blame anything and everything on the player to protect my prized game.

Evidence that total biscuit has a 1080.
https://youtu.be/LRkHPsZak08?t=4m26s

See this is evidence which I can point to can you point to the person who said system requirements are optional? Or is this a case where someone actual said recommended system requirements are optional (which they are) you just have to meet minimum requirements and be willing to accept performance hits. Somehow I think this is more accurate than your version but again this manufactured events suit your prescribed narrative.

Evidence that 'The Know' with a powerful system is getting the same BS problems that people are talking about.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfstgZC3S2w

There is mounting evidence that this is not 99.9% user created issues but a fundamental FLAW to the game's optimization as more than one beast of a system is running into this kind of crap. I'd love to see evidence of these idiots that just randomly come up to you and tell you their problems with NMS. lol Doesn't ring true sound manufactured and BS especially when we see people with POWERFUL systems run into the same issue. And an issue that isn't isolated to one brand of card or operating system.

Imagine how much happier people in this thread would be if they spent all the time pointlessly arguing into playing something else in the mean time.

For some people it's like their world stops when a game has a problem. That's worrying, and it should be time for taking a step back and re-evaluating life and priorities.
