Just gotta say- Amazing. So far it`s everything I hoped for.

A few bugs... some odd black squares, but so far so good.

Good to hear. I got the game on release day here in GOG.com but I don't own PC VR so I just ordered it again on PS4. Sure, the PSVR version is not as good looking but I hear it's still quite playable.
I'm glad your enjoying it, I'm having 50% reprojection on lowest settings... somethings gotta be up, hopefully I can find a solution.

I`ve not checked any of the settings yet. But it runs pretty well so far on the Rift S.

Seeing my ship for the first time was really nice.

To have a world to explore and for there to be so many more!

Anyway, so far, impressed. What a change from all those years ago when I more or less hated the game! Few gaming companies have made such a huge change for free! Take note Bethesda!

What is your VR Setup?

Well it`s all default at the moment. Obviously using the Oculus platform (which you have to). I`m not sure what else you mean.

If you mean pc settings it`s a
Ryzen 2700X
32 gig 3200mhz ram
1080 card.

That's it! Tech specs. Rift verify thing complained about my USB 3 ports. I got a new card and it still complains. DO you thing this will be an issue?

Well I got interrupted by a friend, but I`ll run more of the game soon and check how it is after a few real hours out and about!

By 'a new card' do you mean a new GPU or a new USB3 PCIEx1 card?

If your getting USB3 compatibility warnings with your VR device, it doesn't like your onboard USB3 controller. In this case, which is what I had to do, I bought an internal USB 3 card to add some compatible USB3 ports.

I bought "Inateck PCI-E to USB 3.0 (5 Ports) PCI Express Card and 15-Pin Power Connector, Red (KT5001)" from amazon, works perfectly ($28).

Maybe none of this information is useful, but there it is just in case!

Interesting. Never noticed this bit. You must`ve added it later which is why I never answered cos I never got an alert to a message.

The Rift S is a fussy beast about USB 3.0 ports. Just keep swapping them around and restart Oculus until it accepts it. Even try a 3.1 if you have one.

You could also try disabling `Allow this computer to turn off this Device` on your USBs through Device Manager.

I had to install new drivers for my PCI USB3 card and all is good now. However, VR is not really working out for me. I get very hot and sweaty under that helmet. 15-20 minutes is as much as I can take it in VR. Odyssey+ is visualy very nice, but comfort is an issue for me.

You`re not alone. In the UK right now it has been very hot lately so i`ve not been using it either.

I set my AC at 20C and still can't take it. I get less hot if I am just watching a film or something like that. I think it's all that moving that is making it bad.

Well it don`t help having a giant pair of electronic goggles tight on the head that hardly lets any air in. And electric things only get hotter over time.

I tend to agree from the visual side of things (that's kind of a no brainer, ignoring any performance drops, is it ? :) ), and also from how they tried to translate controlling your traveller with what's available currently with VR sets. Namely, they actually tried to embrace the change in paradigm, instead of mindlessly remapping keys and buttons.

I kind of hate to say it: But that's exactly what's keeping me from playing NMS in VR right now that OpenComposite turned into a viable alternative for users not havng SteamVR installed (at least with my Oculus Rift).

I'd very much like to just use my HMD vor the visuals, while retaining keyboard and mouse control over my Entity.
