trusteft: Happy gaming.
Agreed. I think in the same way.
I speend over 40 hours atm in game and i like it a lot.
I skimmed that reddit post and it seems to collect everything the devs at some point during the development said might make it into the game. And some of the things didn't or were done differently.

This is completely normal. I've never even heard of any multi year project where there weren't loads of changes, ideas scrapped, and features added or removed.
Just usually the development studio keeps all this stuff secret and only select bits of information on the few pieces that are pretty much final are released. Hg was apparently pretty open with information and that has come back to bite them.

I only looked at the current advertisements and interviews right before the release before I bought and I got pretty much what I paid for.
I would have wished for a better ui but it's also on ps4 and lists controller support so I didn't expect it to be good.

DazBoots: What I can't get my head around is that it is quite obvious now that the game is a £1.99 budget game, yet it stays in the number one spot here and on steam at £40.
I thought most would have binned or refunded by now.
OR perhaps the rest of the world is not crazy and the game is good and you just happen to not like it.

justporter: I'm not attacking anyone in saying this, but I honestly think that PC gamers will cause the death of PC gaming before the consoles kill us off. I mean some of the best games seem to get the most criticism for the silliest things. Each Bethesda game that comes out seems to get harsh criticism yet I have found some of them to be the most enjoyable experiences of all time. I've owned almost all of them at launch and never had a single one not work, or be unplayable, or have any game breaking bugs. None.
I would agree with you if not for Microsoft actively trying to piss off their Windows' users. With their big brother attitude and spying with W10, to name just two, I already know my next gaming PC, if I can't have W8.1 I am going to go Linux or even Mac, all the way.

As someone who's collecting info on NMS, if it's my type of game, I have no personal money in this (yet).

I saw that list., and well, there are things that have been show in trailers (even in trailers currently still used to sell the game) that flat out aren't in the release build.

So yeah, you are right that over time, during development things change. However, statements from four months before release, or videos that are still being used today to promote the title, these "promises" should be accurate and the fact that there's no effort to align the promotion with reality doesn't reflect well on HG. Just check the product page here on GOG, the trailer has at least two or three things that aren't present, and the screenshots have two or three more.

Can you be more specific and name the 2 or 3 or 6 things you are referring to? I am curious to know what they are.
You can reference the Reddit list, but from what I remember reading it yesterday:

Basically the Brontosaurus-like creates are bathing in some kind of river, when in the final game people haven't really seen rivers yet, or bathing creatures (or just such a nice "horde" of larger and smaller ones resting together in such a scenic way). The attacking creature shakes the trees as it moves trough them, when in the final game they just ghost trough vegetation. The player then flies off, returns to a desert planet (of which there are few to none?) and flies some NOE maneuvers which isn't possible with the current flying implementation.

The screenshots show a crashed freighter (doesn't exist in release) and some structures that were originally animated but now no animated structures are in game.

That's the summary of what I've learned so far about the game... that obviously what the trailers and screens show, people can't find in their release gameplay even 10+, 30+ hours into it.

This video makes a pretty good point:

I've been to planets with plenty of water. Only two thus far though and I visited a about a hundred. It was mostly islands and lakes no rivers but since this is random a really narrow long lake could exist and be interpreted as a river.
Didn't notice any bathing land creatures but there were fish.
Groups of different creatures just chilling definitely exist seen that a bunch of times.

I haven't seen animated structures and I would like to see a lot more diversity there. I can remember only four different buildings of the top of my head.

This railway flying definitely was a bad idea. They probably wanted to make it easier and more accessible. That kind of thing often makes games worse for the real target audience. I prefer the kerbal space program school of space flight. That could be a bit overkill for this game but something in the middle would be nice.

Ok, several things I`ll point out:

1. I haven`t seen the brontosaurus creatues yet, but that`s clearly because you aren`t in the right system that produces such creatures. As I`ve delved deeper into the stars I`ve seen larger and larger creatures including big graceful `giraffe` type creatues that are very evocative of what we see in the trailer. I`m certain it`s only time and getting to the right planets.

2. I`ve seen some pretty populated planets with differnet kinds of creatures in groups. But not that close togther because, see below...

3. That trailer is putting creatures way too close. they even appear to completely ignore the Player himself as if he`s not there. In game, the peaceful creatures run away. Everything is super close for viewing (with no animals running away until the Rhino) and its simply demonstrating what you can see in the game.

4. I haven`t seen any big animals break plants yet, you may be right, but I have not seen anything THAT big yet.

5. Well the Alien structures animate when you activate them. Ship bases platforms animate when ships land on them.

6. I`ve been on a deserted planet, 2 in fact. No fauna, no flora. They are there. they are boring, like the moon.

7. I`ll give you one about not being able to fly low. I agree that needs changing and to give the player to fly how he wants.

8. I came to a planet of mostly lakes, almost a huge ocen with very few islands. I landed on an island and took a dip in the water to see an array of fish and creatures swimming about- It was impressive. I got out fast before something like a shark came along as I didn`t have anything to really protect me and no breathing mask. Not seen a river yet, but i`ll wait and see. Also you could hardly call the water in that trailer river, it`s more like a large LAKE.

9. And as for the crashed Freighter- subjective. It could be randomised as most of this game is and require time and exploration to find. there are plenty of random crashed ships to find however.

10. Finally that u-tube link that shows the trailer then contrasts it with the worse random creature someone could find with a stupid piece of music to brainwash you even more is misleading and even more of a lie than anything in the trailer. You should not pay attention to that piece of rubbish.

Almost nothing here worth the complaint that I can see.

Not really sure what the big deal is about base stations (I am inferring this is what is meant - base stations on the ground - like outposts) being animated, not the reason I am playing it.

Still, even without my interaction, I see sat dishes moving, flags fluttering, ships landing, red alarms twirling etc. Interaction even more happens (interacting with calling the ship, interaction with the galaxy hub that changes its lense, doors opening.

You really want to see a game changer - and this was it for me, implement the texture mod (google for the mods) for the quality of your monitor - to me this brought the game to a new level. I am not sure why this is broken without the mod (possibly pressure from Sony - as it makes it much better visual experience on the PC?)
