Does someone know if there's going to be Linux support any time soon after the release?
As per current news, simultaneous release for PS4 / PC

Rumored (no substantial or official news) XBox release.

No news of any other platform to date.

Thanks bravoman, I've seen the requirements say windows (Linux is PC too...) I asked just in case someone knew about a Linux or SteamOS release... If not, I won't buy it full price.
True. I should have been more specific about what PC platform :) I've gotten into the bad habit of assuming PC always means Windows.

I will only buy it with Linux Support

I would generally agree with a Linux release, but I wouldn't hold off just because its main platform is windows and ps4. I just hope it can at least run under wine seamlessly.

Not offering a native Linux version in 2016 feels like an insult. I can accept older games needing wine, meself having used it for Linuxgaming for years, but since Valve is pushing SteamOS, publishers that won't support Linux are just to be avoided, IMHO.
Be that as it may there is a third option, use a gpu passthrough. Though I do agree with what your saying, sometimes that blurs the lines for realistic expectations. Maybe you should send Hello Games your concerns... I mean whats the alternative every game released being GPL3?

I would love a Linux version myself. Hopefully the developers have the desire to make it happen at some point.
A lot of my friends are talking about this game. And it looks very interesting.

Sadly I cannot buy and play it because there is no Linux (Ubuntu) support. Please consider this for the future. :)
As No Man's Sky is using OpenGL the chances are high that at least it will work with wine out of the box.
I hope they bring this on Linux. MacOS too but let's not get too greedy.

Yes and no. You need to keep in mind that just as Ubuntu, SteamOS is based on Debian, and SteamOS itself isn't even fully developed yet. Plus, this game is very ambitious, and the main target would of course be the majority of gamers: Windows users, since that brings in most of the revenue that is needed to roll out updates, keep servers running and optimising the game for other operating systems.

I would love NMS to support Linux though. <- That and driver support are the only things currently keeping me away from Linux gaming.

Linux not supported means they don't want my money. Fine by me, my backlog is killing me. ;)
The revenue from Windows gamers will probably not be invested into Linux. That's wishful thinking. Either a studio wants all the audience it can get, meaning mult-platform release, or it'll only feed into the over-saturated market. Their call.
