In case Hello Games is reading this forum for any bug reports/issues, it seems that on Windows 10 (at least on my computer), you cannot alt-tab with this game. Well, you can, but once so you cannot switch back to the game. Whether using Alt-tab to switch back or clicking the icon at the bottom, you just hear the music and that is it. When going back into the game, it goes through the whole intro thing and drops me on a new random planet at the beginning. This is annoying, as often in new games a person needs to alt-tab to figure out how to do things (for instance, I apparently need to craft carite sheets and do not have a recipe or know how to do so, so I went to look this up).

I tried to alt tab out to stop a stream I had running on my other monitor. Thing is for me though is that it hard locked by computer so that I had to hit the reset button on my machine and restart the whole thing, happens even with windowed or borderless window mode, which is less than ideal for a modern game

Hope they manage to sort this one out sooner rather than later

EDIT: Just exited the game using the Exit to Desktop option. Yup black screen, computer locked up again and required a reset. On the plus side while I was playing it ran ok but there are clearly some problems with this build to say the least :-(

Just saw someone say in another thread the game runs better in a borderless window. That would resolve the alt-tab issue too--going to see if I can figure out how they set it as I don't recall any options like that in game.

Ok there is a bordered setting in the upper left of graphics settings. Requires a restart, and does have a thick annoying application bar at the top but at least you can switch to a browser and back.

True. It runs, and runs at 58-60fps, so I'm one of the luckier ones. (Looking at the Steam reviews so far, lots of people getting 10fps and stuff :( )

Yep, no alt tabbing for me in Windows 10 Pro with the Anniversary update. I also get the problem with the game crashing in the initialization phase.

It's running a lot better than Windows 7 ever did and I've not really had any issues with it. Besides, if one wants to actually take advantage of modern technology, including for gaming, very soon it will be the only game in town. The issues are not with Windows 10, but with the state of the game at release (or at least the GOG version).

yeah alt-tab killed it... thats a game issue has nothing to do with windows 10... hello games needs to look into this, could be due to the OpenGL code used.

same issue on windows 8.1, can't do alt+tab....

If this happens to you, bring up the task manager, expand No Man's Sky, right click on it and choose the option to switch to the game. Problem solved (until they fix it).

Possible fix: Start the taskmanager, search for NoMan'sSky, open the branch, doubleclick on application.

Alt+Tab is known issue you need to set no man sky to borderless for this to work till next patch is out or the beta build

Has nothing to do with the version of windows i can alt tab on mine and im running w10 + annvers update

pfff I wish could could mod it or something with 100x more resources improve graphics more... game is so dead smooth for me.

Funny I alt tabbed ( i use task manager = bring to front) was playing another game forgot had it open than alt tabbed back to it lol...
