jbreeding28: I had this same problem but I have a workaround. This works for me, not sure it'll work for you. The problem on my end had to do with my headset. I have a Razer headset and I don't believe Myst IV likes that it's routed through Synapse. I had the same problem with the disc version but the game actually gave me an error: "Myst IV cannot use audio source because another program is already using it."

If you have a Razer headset, try using another pair of headphones or speakers. Completely unplug any Razer headsets.
I am so desperate that I will even try this... brb

I just realized I dont have a razer headset, its an LG, HOWEVER I unplugged it restarted my pc and now MYST 4 works... Of all the things that it could, I neverv imagined this.
I've been trying to run Myst IV off my Razer laptop, and the only way I could get it to work is if I unplug the laptop from my external AOC monitor AND unplug my Razer keyboard, then the game starts without any problem (I still have a Microsoft Surface blutooth mouse connected). I don't have to have any compatibility settings enabled. I'm just going to have to play this purely off my laptop. So the game appears to either not like external peripherals for some reason, or something about Razer drivers in particular.

UPDATE: ...and now after restarting the game a couple of time, it won't start again! Very frustrating. The resolution of the screen will change and either the cursor will hang in the spinning cursor, the fan noise will crank up and I have to restart my laptop, or the screen will go black for a couple of seconds and then drop me back to the GOG screen and the "play" button will become available again.

Hmm no luck with a clean boot. I even went as far as doing a clean install of windows.
Next attempt will be to try the wifes laptop and see if it loads then.
I did manage to get it running once and that was it, haven't been able to duplicate the same result since.
[Quick Edit - Lance, I have exactly the same situation. Frustrating.]

Here's an update from me. The game didn't run after my initial post, and I gave up for a bit. After reading the new posts above, I decided to try again. I've now had the game running and on the main menu twice, but it's still a poop-show by the looks of it.

First, I switched my default audio from a Turtle Beach Stealth 450 headset, back to my internal SB Z. I did this right after booting, I didn't actually disable or remove the audio device or wifi dongle - and Myst IV started properly, main menu and music playing. I then decided - because I'm a programmer and don't know any better - to test it failing again. Switched back to the headset default, sure enough the game doesn't start. Switch back to the SB Z... game still doesn't start. Fantastic :)

So, I rebooted with SB Z set to default, tried again - Myst IV started. Closed the game, fired straight back up with no changes - it won't start. So, on top of some kind of disagreement with audio devices and/or peripherals that's killing the game on initial launch, we also seem to have a problem launching the game a second time with no changes made to the system. The process isn't hanging around after it kicks back to desktop and preventing GOG from launching it either - it's definitely gone from the process list afterwards.

Here's the real kicker though. I now can't start it at all - even after rebooting, and even while my SB Z is the default audio device. I can't find any consistency with this - I could have played the game twice this morning if I wasn't testing to find a cause, and now I'm unable to play again and still have no explanation for any of this :)

Thanks for posting your updates guys, and good luck getting any further. I can only stand so many reboots before I'm burned out and giving up!
Are those glitches only for windows 10? Are they general or system specific?

I am with windows 7 for now, but I think I will wait to complete my collection with this title until the game is stable.

Have you tried turning off temporaly the antivirus and see if there is any luck?
Any change in admin rights etc...?
Same issue here. I wonder whether or not the game passed the quality gates of GOG? In my opinion, there should be at least a startup check for all major OS the game claims to support.
I just spoke to Tech Support add did the dance that they wanted, display settings, adding the game to my antivirus trusted list, even turning off second display, and etc etc etc....

Still no go...

I then dug out an old 10" laptop running Windows Vista sp2 and after fighting with getting the antivirus to NOT remove the game and added it to the trusted list it runs...

Windows 10?????
Has anyone had issues downloading MYST4 Revelation? Norton on my computer detects a trojan in he downloaded files and deletes them

Same here. Windows Defender gets really upset, flashes and starts to throw things around (my wife got hit by a chair), and accuses me for trying to poisoning W10 with a trojan called Zpvado.A. At first I thought this was a false detection...but how sure can we be? Perhaps GOG never recompiled the exe themselves (Myst4.exe) to use an old no DVD crack instead?
Does GOG screen files for viruses and Trojans? I am totally p'eed off with trying to down load and install this game only have it blocked as containing trojans and heuristic threat programs
Hace we all contacted GOG yet?
I for one am disturbed that GoG would knowingly distribute a virus to paying customers. I initially believed this to be a false positive - like common sense tells me, but after so many people reporting different virus detections from two of the most commonly used programs, I guess I have to believe it's true.

And people say Norton and Windows Defender are bad antiviruses. Ha, shows what they know!
Same here - launched once only - tried soooo many times but to no avail

Bad practices, and therefore false alarms, were are just more common in older games. Considering GOG helped update the games I seriously dobut they actually contain viruses.
