malkith0: Would be nice, if not just for the sake of completion. Plus, it might be fun just to take one party from 1 through 9 via importing them.

KajQrd: I might be wrong but as far as I know you can't import parties from older games in the Might and Magic series. Furthermore as far as I have been able to tell so far the link between the different games storywise is very weak. They all seem to be very independent games except for IV and V.

Not to mention, that the party from MM3 already plays a role in MM7 storline ;)

you'll mock me for this but I played #1 when it first came out, and I loved it more than any of the other 8. I mapped every single dungeon in a graphing notebook that I still have, and got my butt kicked over and over and over. In contrast, I beat MM6 in about 2 weeks.
Having said that, the MM series ranks as the best RPG experience I've had (next to the Bioware classics), and I really hope they introduce MM7 with fixes so it can be run on dual-core systems.
Why is everyone saying the series went downhill after MM6?
I agree that MM9 was bad, but I loved 7 and 8...
Hmm..I really like M&M9.I agree,its not good as M&M 5 and 6 but i enjoyed it.
Game was fun, atmosfhere and gameplay was good.3D engine is good too so i don`t understand why people hating this part.
Btw do you know where can i download M&M9 fan patch?

Try http://www.gamershell.com/news_7818.html. Although I would look around the net to see if there is an updated version...

Mentalepsy: I just finished Might & Magic VII this afternoon, and I enjoyed it tremendously. This is a minority opinion, but I definitely liked it better than 6. 6 was better in terms of environment design, density of content, and perhaps pacing, but I found 7 much more enjoyable overall, thanks to more robust game mechanics, better game balance (at least insofar as my experiences go), and much thinner monster populations. I also got a kick out of the connection to MM3.

I never liked Might & Magic, but the"VII: For Blood and Honor" is a must. Sad, I didn't liked the 8, and the 9 is a joke.
So, the VII is the sole M&M I like, but I like it very much.

You can import characters from MM1 into MM2. I believe there was plans to do so from MM2 to MM3 as well, but they were dropped for some reason.
As far as the story goes, MM1-5 make a single story arch, with the MM1-3 having the same party, following Corak and Sheltem. At the end of 3, they blast off headed for Xeen. At the start of Xeen (or in the manual, actually, I think) it's noted that their ship is shot down. Thus, when MM4 starts, it is an entirely new party. The party in the ship that was shot down is then used in MM7, having managed to emergency teleport away. The fate of the adventurers of Xeen is left to your imagination, as they are never seen again in any other game, to the best of my knowledge.
I personally liked the 7th the most of the series (but that may be my retro goggles speaking). I also think the 9th isn't worth the trouble. I tried to like it. I really did. But it is just so bland, so chaotic and so ugly it isn't worth the disk space you spend it on. This is of course just my personal opinion, but still :p
Might & Magic VII was my first PC RPG ever and as such, I would love to get a chance to play it again. I have my copy lying around, but two problems have arisen. One, I'm using Vista. Two, Disc 1 isn't there!
GOG, make it happen! For blood and honor! :)
Please bring back the other Might & Magic games. :)
might and magic IX murders little kittens. Just sayin'.
I´ve been looking around to find a copy of Might and Magic Platinum Edition.
Does Might and Magic 7-9 work on Win 7 64-bit? Is there a region lock on PC games, or can I buy it from US and play it on my EU computer?

As far as I know, all of the M&M games will work on Windows 7 64-bit. I never heard of any regional lock, so if you want to buy the games the only stopping points would be price and desire to play the games.
