So excited to play all these again and hope this gets released soon, but do they have any plans to bring the great Might and Magic VII, Might and Magic VIII and the not so great IX? I would love to play through them all again!
1-6 is quite enough IMO. With 7 the quality starting moving downhill, ending in the abysmal M&M 9.
4, 5 and 6, however, are superb games.
I think the GOG staff knows to stay well away from M&M 9. There is no way in HELL they can justifiably claim that is a good game.
IMO even MM9 with the fan patch is a good game.
As for MM6-9 I have them all. Now waiting for GOG to release MM1-6 pack to buy it. Surely there can be more fun for young player in MMí than in MM1.
For me I have impression that 4 a 5 is the limit for going to past.
You need MM7 and 8 to finish the story started in HOMM1. It's all about the stories y'know.
Bring 'em on. We need them.
I dug up my M&M 5 and 7 cds a few days ago ... sadly, I can't get them to even install. :(
Though I haven't played with any of the Windows compatibility settings yet. If GOG comes through, though, I won't have to!
Would be nice, if not just for the sake of completion. Plus, it might be fun just to take one party from 1 through 9 via importing them.
I just finished Might & Magic VII this afternoon, and I enjoyed it tremendously. This is a minority opinion, but I definitely liked it better than 6. 6 was better in terms of environment design, density of content, and perhaps pacing, but I found 7 much more enjoyable overall, thanks to more robust game mechanics, better game balance (at least insofar as my experiences go), and much thinner monster populations. I also got a kick out of the connection to MM3.
My single biggest complaint about MM6 was that it too frequently devolved into a wearisome, unending slog through wall-to-wall hordes of monsters - monsters packed shoulder-to-shoulder, monsters scrambling over each other to get to you, monster corpses piled up to the ceiling. MM7 is still a bit heavy on the combat, but it's much, much less tedious than 6, partly because there are fewer monsters to kill, and partly because melee fighters are more effective in MM7.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy 6 - I did. I just feel it could have done very well with about half as much combat.

I might be wrong but as far as I know you can't import parties from older games in the Might and Magic series. Furthermore as far as I have been able to tell so far the link between the different games storywise is very weak. They all seem to be very independent games except for IV and V.
My favorites were 6, 7 and 8. I never really played 1 - 5 and can't wait until I get too.
While I personally enjoyed MM9 it's not likely that GOG will release a game that's woefully unfinished and fundamentally broken. Requiring customers to install unsupported, unofficial patches - even one as good as the TELP fix - sounds a bit too much like asking for trouble.
By contrast, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense bringing just the MM6 Limited Edition to GOG and not MM7 and MM8 as well. A few years ago it was very common (at least in Sweden where I live) to see lots and lots of Best Buy copies of MM7 and MM8 lying around in dusty bins in just about every large retail store, so it's not like the right holders haven't been especially keen on selling an abundance of very cheap copies of those games in the past...

I hope we get all 9 in the end. As with Simon 3D and EWJ 3D - those who don't need it, won't buy them, those who do - will.
And they used the unofficial patch for Warlords Battlecry to make it playable, so I hope we get the same treatment with MM9 - and if not, then at least a sticky with patch instructions...

Same here. Man, I've finished MaM7 like 15 times....those memories.
The problem with MM7 is really its difficulty at the beginning which is caused by no user-friendly dungeon nearby. Dwarven tombs are pretty bad place (battles and puzzle).
Start in MM6 was more user-friendly with its abandoned temple and nilbog:-) watch.

That will be nice idea. I know that from M&M 7 qality of series streted to drop but it's first Might & Magic game I played and loved it from the begining anyway.
