Hello and welcome to the Master of Orion Early Access 1. We're excited to get your feedback on the Multiplayer in Master of Orion and would like you to use this thread as a central location to discuss what you like, what you dislike, and any other thoughts you might have.
Needs Tactical Battles.
Needs TB that is fixed (see post above)
Needs ability to have multiple players (more than 2) in a combat.
Needs friendly targeting for allies so you don't accidently shot an ally when you're fighting with him against an AI or other player(s).
Need to remove the DRM restriction for entering MP mode. As of right now, you MUST be logged into GOG Galaxy and connected in order to play MP, and there is no option for local lan play it all has to bounce to net and back, so much for no DRM gog..... Im not going to pay 50 bucks a pop to MP locally
The "Host Private Game" option doesn't seem to work. Only option is for open games on the MP server.
Is that disabled for EA? MP over the server is fine but you can't restrict it - there isn't a set password option.
I think some of this you're already aware of per the Steam post but:

1. Players need to be able to do things when it isn't their turn

-Design Ships
-Check/Change Queues
-Look at Planets in the Map
-Etc.

2. Relatedly. Needs to have real-time diplomacy between human players, as in MOO2. Click and wait for the other player to respond.
Please implement a local multi-player mode/multi-player via lan or via anything that does not require official servers that will ultimately be shut down.

There is such an option? I haven't bought the game yet so I can't check.

No DRM seems to apply only to single player for many games. I installed my GOG version on my 2 PCs but Multiplayer seems to require that the other player needs the game in his account too + Galaxy running.
Would be nice to be able to play with one copy in the same household via LAN/Internet without buying 2 copies for full price. Its ok for a game with a singleplayer campaign but just for some hours of multiplayer its not very good.

And I never see any games in the Multiplayer Game list. Can we play with Steam players or only with GOG (cause Galaxy required) and why are there no games? Do I need to open/forward specific Ports?

And what should be in the game: Tactical realtime combat between players. Just simulate takes away much cause AI will use all special systems. Battles between more than 2 players could be interesting too. I think Birth of the Federation had this in 1999 already where 3+ players were in the same realtime battle at the same time.

TODO:

* Implement multiplayer where the host can create a private multiplayer session/server. Without the need to use gog galaxy and or wargaming network.

No you don't need to open any ports. I've played several MP games, but they're with people on friends lists so we start game and go and the game then disappears from the list since it's full and we're playing. There just haven't been any "open" MP games.

Quick Note: Anything beyond Medium size galaxy on MP will take all day. I suggest small if you haven't played an MP game before. ;-)

I am really disappointed to find that there isn't a hotseat multiplayer. My father and brother and I would spend hours playing hotseat games of Moo 2 and I hate the idea that if I have a friend over I can't share this game with him.
I'm holding off trying this until GoGMoO and SteaMoO can live together in peace and harmony! :D
You need gog client running to connect to access multiplayer .

How do I run this ? I thought I was running the gog client :(

the thing I am launching the game from says " GOG Galaxy 1.1.5 (beta) " in the top left corner . And I hit the green button to play MoO . Is this the right thing to do ?

Yes. However, I noticed that Galaxy disconnects too easily. If a game crashes I'll usually have to restart GoG Galaxy before restarting MOO.

If you still can't access MP it must be a bug of some sort.
