Same error page here. (Linux version works though). This could be due to a new DLC for the game which has just been added. Perhaps GOG is updating all links.
And I guess they should polish a bit the new launcher as well, because ocassionally it crashes switching version/game and the links are not working as intended.

I noticed the new launcher too. Do you know which game engine is used?

Dosbox, of course. It is only an external Launcher to run the games under dosbox 0.74.2.1. The launcher lets you switch between the original game, the game with the unnoficial patch, and the new Caster of magic mod/dlc, and a link to the slitherine products.

EDIT: But if you are asking for the launcher itself, I dunno. I guess it is the same program used in other matrix games slitherine games to make their launchers.

That's just it. With the new Launcher, it installs .Net 4.7.2, and the original DOSBox didn't need any extra installations. This looks like a new engine.
Hi guys,

Any detailed feedback on the launcher would be most welcome, especially for those who say jt is crashing.

As for the download link, we will check with our GoG rep.

It crashed once for me switching from classic to unnoficial versions, the first time launched. But for now it seems to work fine. i will post if the issue comes back.
The caster of magic button should link to the dlc purchase page but it does link to the GOG games list general store.

I have a slightly different problem (could be stupidity on my part - you be the judge). I don't know how to get to this launcher you guys are talking about.

I am not a Galaxy user, so I use the downloaded offline file to install. It was billed as a mod (and it said you had to have MOM as a requirement) so I assumed it would mod MOM. So, without any other instructions, I moved the downloaded exe to my mom directory and executed it. It did not create any shortcuts that I can find. My MOM shortcut (created during MOM installation) is unaffected and just launches the old MOM. I looked through the directory that your com exe created but I don't see anything that tells me what to do exactly (this is where my stupidity might come into play). I suppose I could try launching DOSBOX and mounting the exe into it. But you guys are talking about a launcher and that raises the possibility that the launcher is required for it to work. So I decided to stop fiddling with it and seek some procedures.

So what am I supposed to do?

If you run the game from the shortcut GOG creates after install it will point the Launcher, It does not matter if you use Galaxy or not. Every Installed GOG Game creates a Shortcut to desktop and/or one shortcut into the game folder.

So, In any way if you look into your game folder you will see the launcher exe and the gog shortcut. If the game is properly updated It should point to the Launcher executable

The only MOM shortcut on my desktop is the old one. It launches the old mom and not a launcher. Does the shortcut you refer to have a different icon from the old one?

There is no launcher.exe but suspiciously, there is a launcher.exe.config. Also suspiciously there is an install.exe file - ahh but I see there's also an install.exe file in the old mom directory. Also suspiciously, there's an html file. I guess I will fiddle with that next.

-edit- no joy. That is just some doc on the mod.

I just tried downloading and installing the (new) base game. It isn't directly a mod; install it as a program. After installing, just run the exe (I used the desktop shortcut that the installer created) and a window pops up asking which version you want to run; check the screenshot I took.

I haven't purchased the CoM dlc, but I'd assume you point its installer or whatever at the new base game and let it run. Then you should be able to pick CoM from the pop-up window when running the base game.

I used the GOG downloader to pull it, and when I open up the folder I get the files in the attached screenshot. I ran the highlighted file to install the new version (1.3.1.01).

The new desktop icon is identical to the old desktop icon.

OK, first, I've been a (non-galaxy) member since '12 and I have 225 games in my GOG collection. I've been around the block a few times and know what the installer usually does. So when I tell you guys 3 times that it did not create any shortcut, please, I beg of you, believe me.

Also, I should mention that this is a slightly abbreviated installer that does not give you a chance to select an installation folder, nor does it give you options to create or not a desktop shortcut nor start menu entry.

When you say: "After installing, just run the exe", what exe are you referring to?

If into the game folder you do not have a "Launcher.exe" or a "Launch Master of Magic.exe" try to reinstall your game. Also you should have at least two folders into your main game folder called "Master of Magic Official release" and other " Master of Magic Unnoficial Patch", these two are the proper DOS games, complete versions with the original dos executables, data etc, You will switch between both game versions depending your selection in the Launcher.

While I pull together some more screenshots to show pretty much everything I'm seeing, could you open a new thread for your question? Let's stop hi-jacking this thread, in case it takes us a while to reach a solution.
