This was the last game that Interplay and Black Isle made. Unfortunately it was their worst RPG ever. If it were any other company than Black Ilse saying it is the worst might mean don't play it. It isn't a bad game, it just can't hold a candle to the other games the developers made. There is a lot of potential in the game just on the fact that it uses the SPECIAL system from Fallout. Unfortunately that potential wasn't really tapped. There are some high-points in the game and it has a unique and interesting setting. Lionheart just misses on more marks than it hits. Not a bad game but far from what it could have been. Black Isle fans should pick it up for sure at the GoG price, but I imagine most of them already spent more $$ hoping for more.
Keep in mind that this game was not actually developed by Black Isle at all, but by another company and was merely published by them.

Yup, if this would have been published a few years earlier and with a longer story and playtime it would have had much more fame and glory. I think the interface is better than in Baldurs Gates or in NWNs and the graphics are colorful and smooth which makes it very fantasy-like (compared to Fallout which is rugged).
I still have the pre-order bonus disc that adds a small extra area near the start.
I'm assuming that on this version the game won't inexplicably crash when i try going out of the Sewers in Barcelona? i'm afraid that it might happen, i bought a real cheap copy over a year ago and liked the game, but unfortunately i couldn't get around the crash to desktop issue when i tried getting out of the sewers :(
I enjoyed the first half of the game. It was a bit difficult at the beginning to get along with the real-time, but it was OK to the moment when the war occured ... after that - the game stopped to be a nice RPG and became a cheap hack'n'slash. That was the worst thing in my opinion
I haven't played this much yet, but it was fun so far. I love the art direction and the VA.
The game wasn't bad so much as just unfinished in the second half to last third or so. I don't think I crashed out but I know I never finished it and that's huge for me. It just didn't have the polish and attention to detail that other BIS RPGs had.

Hmm would be great to see this available as a downloadable content extra...
I seem to recall that this game started farily easy but then became a bit imbalanced toward the end - almost being impossible to finish.
Good looking game and the story line was pretty good.
I've never had the chance to play past Barcelona when I bought the game years ago. So I guess I'm in for a bumpy ride when I do happen to make it farther in the game huh? I'll just play and see for myself.

Which is a problem.

Beginning of the game is great. The longer you play though (basically, outside Barcelona), the more of a tedious hack&slash the game was becoming like bob-satan said above.
I wish they could release Thief1/2 on GOG - the real classics, not rightfully forgotten half-games like Lionheart...

Meh, everyone and their mother has played thief. Im glad lesser known games like this are getting a second chance.
Flawed but playable, especially if you enjoy hack n slash games.
The original developers were the guys from Reflexive. Apparently the problem was that they ran out of funding in the later part of the game and literally had to hurry it out the door. None of them liked having to do that, but it was apparently the unfortunate situation they found themselves in and couldn't do much else about it.
I bought this game to support GOG, plus I really don't mind hack and slash games that much.
So far I haven't spent much time with it, but it seems like it might be fun as long as I'm not expecting some deep rpg the whole way through.
Will post more comments on it once I play it some more, and yeah I can definately understand you guys being disappointed with it, because if it started out that strong and then just turned into a H&S, then that's a sure sign that it was (obviously) rushed.
Anyway will bring more news from the gaming front hopefully soon, though I'm busy with a variety of games so I'm not exactly sure when I will get to this one.
